Inquisitor, Dengar and another question.

By Stoneface, in X-Wing

Flew Imps tonite vs Dengar, Zuckuss and another G1 and it was notable for several reasons.

1) First time for the Inquisitor and Omega Leader.

2) Flew best game ever with the Imps. If you've seen my flying this is a big deal.

3) First time I won flying 3 ships. Yippee!

4) My opponent had 9 or 10 consecutive rolls of hit, focus, blank vs Omega Leader.

Now for the questions.

1) Was I correct that Omega Leader shuts down ALL dice mods. Target Lock, focus and evade can't be used by your opponent for either offense or defence?

2) If the Inquisitor shuts down Autothrusters does he also shut down the range 3 green die bonus for the same reason he shuts down AT?

3) Has it ever been established whether Dengar gets his defensive fire when he's destroyed?

The last hour of the game featured an Omega Leader with 3 HP vs a full health G1-A. Tonight I was reading my opponent's moves as if they were written on a chalkboard. May never happen again.

1. Correct, as long as he has a target lock on the attacker and defender

2. Correct. Shuts it all down.

3. I believe the concensus is it depends on if it's happening in the same firing phase as Dengar is in and if Dengar has initiative or not. I could be wrong on this one.

In the situation tonight Dengar was destroyed by a PS 8 pilot in arc. We weren't sure so we let him return thd shot.

Fun little story: at a Store Champ this year, I got to watch a 1v1 endgame fight between Omega Leader and a kitted-out Falcon. The Rebel player had brought:

Han Solo pilot (nope)
Predator (also nope)
C-3P0 (still nope)
Millennium Falcon (and still nope!)
The only upgrade cards he had that worked were Gunner and an Engine Upgrade. His pretty Falcon was basically a 62-point PS9 generic with 0 agility and boost as its only available action, and over a half-dozen turns Omega slowly bled him to death. It was glorious to behold.

I never realized how powerful OL is until tonight. I've flown against him once or twice and managed to kill him. Tonight I would pick a ship whose firing arc I was in, TL it and follow it until I needed to switch TLs. OL can be a real PITA! The only problem tonight was I started in a bad position relative to the G1 in the end game. I was using k turns and the segnor loop to stress me (wired) and keep me at range 3. Twice I was caught at R2 but his consistent bad rolls of hit, focus, blank prevented him from scoring more than one point. In an hour of one on one that's all the damage that was scored on OL. The final round was at R1.

I'm beginning to like ths Imps better probably because I have a better grip on how to fly them. Although the three I flew tonight weren't as squishy as normal Ties.

My only issue with that is that ships that are destroyed are removed immediately unless in the same firing phase as the ship destroying it. I believe if it's out of firing phase he doesn't get the shot. Though it could still be based on initiative either way.

I thought evade tokens could be spent when defending against OL since they aren't modifying dice?

It's adding a result and is listed under the modification step in the rules (just like 3PO) so no, it doesn't work.

Well that is a very counter intuitive ruling. Still, I guess it's time to quit allowing my opponents to spend those evade tokens.
