New idea, duel pilot cards

By Krynn007, in X-Wing

You seem to have me pegged all wrong. I DO GET IT . It is just that what you want is functionally identical to having two separate cards in every single way. If you go to a tournament but can only use one side then there is no point in having something useful printed on both sides of the card.

The suggestion dealing with the Hound's Tooth/Nashta Pup is possibly the only thing I've seen here that could make sense from a game perspective although it isn't so much a dual upgrade as an immediate change utilized because of the ship's title.

Having a pilot card with two versions of the same pilot printed on opposite sides may be a nice novelty but don't go calling it a dual X card when the game has already included that terminology and how it works.

For example release a ship that comes with new pilots as usual, but then the other side is the same pilot flying a different ship.

You can achieve the exact same thing by adding the pilot card as a separate card; there's no need for one card to be on another's back.

They would have to make sure that there was an A and B side for a terminate play and at no time can it ever change..

I think it would be messy. Also, if you loose the card, now you've not only lost Marek as an advanced pilot, but now as a defender pilot! (for example)

I want new cards for the shuttle, but I don't think slipping them onto the backs of imperial veterans would make much sense.

I would like to see something like the Emporer's Royal guard pack, which comes with a shuttle, a royal guard tie interceptor, and a royal guard tie defender for around $45-$50. Also included would be upgrades from imperial aces/verterans(not the full set, but enough you could play the ships), some new pilots, and an alternate art of ol' palpy.(but that's just me.)

Or even some support for the shuttle if they ever decide to bring Kylo Ren's batwing ride into the game.

I'd like to see a cross faction ship released this way - Ketsu Onyo's Shadow Caster could be a good one for a Rebel/Scum release. Each pilot would be dual sided with a version for each faction and different abilities on each side.

Yes, they could simply be on different cards but each expansion only has a certain number of cards included and we have seen that dual-sided cards are a way to sneak in some extra cards.

Instead of including six cards for a Rebel generic, Scum generic, two versions of Sabine Wren and two versions of Ketsu Onyo, you can do it in three.

This stops it from being a six pilot expansion like the TIE/ln which would restrict it to only two upgrades and even leaves space in the pack for another dual sided generic.

At that point you can have more upgrades included in the set - five if it's a 'small' expansion and nine if it's a 'medium' one like the K-Wing.

So while they don't offer function beyond what two separate cards have, they are a practical way to give us more content in less space.
