how wud u make the new maarek work

By eibon, in X-Wing

Always loved maarek n having him in a defender is awsome but not sure how he's gona work, how would you guys load him and what wingmates would you bring with him.

I'd probably just fly him the same way as I do Rexlar: light on upgrades and not trying to force his ability. Either Juke or Predator backed by the x7 title should be plenty. The crits will come, and they will sting.

He'll probably be my Defender of choice for situations where Rexlar would be too expensive and Vessery doesn't have synergy. He'd also be a good alternative to Soontir or Vader as an escort to a Palp shuttle.

Tie/D

Tractor Bean

Marksmanship.

Or

Tie/x7

Juke

Tie/D

Ion cannon

Predator

+ OGP

Palpatine

Not sure why everyone expects to use a pilot's ability every round. Even Fel can't be expected to PTL every turn.

Either the setup in the article of calculation+cheap title

Or something like mangler and predator or vi.

With TIE/D, Tractor beam, Deadeye (or Crackshot) and Adv. Homing missile. Bye bye, to the 2 Hull ships ;)

Intimidation !? X2 with D, I think.

I've sometimes considered Calculation. Depends on who you've got around him that's the same (or higher) PS, so they can peel off shields and he can get in some solid hits, though.

Probably best served just seeing his special ability as the occasional lucky treat, instead of angling for it too hard, though.

With Adv. Homing Missile Stele is able to take out Corran or crippling TLT carriers or most large base ships in one shot.

I don't want to use Maarek's ability every round. I want to use it every time he fires.

No, sometimes he gets blocked.

First thing I would attempt to do is spell correctly...

I'm sorry. I got distracted. What was the question?

Calculation and Twin Ion Engine, then fly him alongside a Twin Officer Shuttle and profit.

x7: Calculation, Lone Wolf, Predator or Juke

D: Any cannon, with Marksmanship, Predator or Lone Wolf

Tie/D

Tractor Bean

Marksmanship.

I plan on using this build also seems most powerful of all the options available :D

Calculation is cheap and reliable works on x7, marksmanship is good on /D.

With VI/Crackshot/Lone Wolf/Wired, Mangler and no title.

I don't think he needs it.

I wouldn't. I would take Vessery instead, and get a pilot ability that is actually good.

Don't get me wrong, Vessery is and will remain a beast. But if we were flying palp shuttle and soontir? Maaerek is a much better ace-level wingman.

Probably with spell check.

You realise you can take both right?

Any pilot ability that deals with crits seems to be 'not that good' as voted by a a vocal minority on the forums. The Defender will soon have two such pilots, Good ol Rexler and Stele. If you don't want to include either pilot in your lists then don't. Personally I think these pilots can work in both 100 pt death matches with minimal upgrades as well as be phenomenal in Epic games. Getting to use those abilities is great, but don't forget to actually fly the **** ship first.

U guys r well hung up on spelling, have u never usedtxt speak before? Anyway I think x7 mkii ptl wud b cool, /D I think tractor beam wud suit him better but I think x7 wud lend better keep him cheap as n get natural crits wen they come

I've flown Maarek in the X1 and really liked his ability. I found it worked out really nicely. There were a lot of times when I picked something useful for that round as the crit, like Blinded Pilot or the one that gave stress.

I think crits work best on larger ships. The small ones are almost dead by the time you put a crit on it. There are enough larger ships these days that it's well worth it. I'm thinking Jumpmasters, Bro Bots, Dash, Ghost, HoundsTooth, and even Lambda Shuttle. The right crit can just win you the game.

As for epic....well, those can be game winning events. Crits on epic ships is crippling.
