So, FFG has gotten some heat lately, so I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we actually express some thanks for the work they have done.
Here's what I appreciate about FFG and X-Wing:
1) Asymmetrical factions. I mean, really, it's not like we're playing Chess here and both sides are identical.
2) High quality miniatures. I keep them on display.
3) Relatively Affordable Price. Yes, it's spendy, but not Warhammer 40K spendy.
4) Flexibility. FFG has reversed rulings in the past.
5) Customer Service. Hello!?!?! They are so good!
6) Anti-Power Creep. FFG has PROVEN they try to fight power creep by the fact that they creatively strive to make old ships AND upgrade cards better. All of a sudden Deadeye is a great card. Biggs is back. Ace packs, etc. It's a hard job fighting power-creep!
7) Forum Moderation. I appreciate that they shut things down then they get personal, political, and wildly off-topic. If I want that kind of stuff I know where to go for it, and it's not here!
8) Theme and Tactics. I heard one guy say that X-Wing is a miniatures collection, with a game slapped over the top. So not true, I love the theme AND the depth of this game.
9) Away from the Table Strategy. X-Wing is a tactical game, and so is Chess. But, with X-Wing there is strategy that comes from constant list-building and tweaking. Kind of like Clash of Clans: when you attack it's a tactical game, when you build your village it's a strategy game. When I'm list building, I feel like I'm playing X-Wing in a way.
10) Simplicity and Depth. I play this game with my four year old, it's simple enough that he can play it but it's deep enough that as a confessed ADD Gamer I'm still hooked on it.
