What I Appreciate About FFG and X-Wing

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

So, FFG has gotten some heat lately, so I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we actually express some thanks for the work they have done.

Here's what I appreciate about FFG and X-Wing:

1) Asymmetrical factions. I mean, really, it's not like we're playing Chess here and both sides are identical.

2) High quality miniatures. I keep them on display.

3) Relatively Affordable Price. Yes, it's spendy, but not Warhammer 40K spendy.

4) Flexibility. FFG has reversed rulings in the past.

5) Customer Service. Hello!?!?! They are so good!

6) Anti-Power Creep. FFG has PROVEN they try to fight power creep by the fact that they creatively strive to make old ships AND upgrade cards better. All of a sudden Deadeye is a great card. Biggs is back. Ace packs, etc. It's a hard job fighting power-creep!

7) Forum Moderation. I appreciate that they shut things down then they get personal, political, and wildly off-topic. If I want that kind of stuff I know where to go for it, and it's not here!

8) Theme and Tactics. I heard one guy say that X-Wing is a miniatures collection, with a game slapped over the top. So not true, I love the theme AND the depth of this game.

9) Away from the Table Strategy. X-Wing is a tactical game, and so is Chess. But, with X-Wing there is strategy that comes from constant list-building and tweaking. Kind of like Clash of Clans: when you attack it's a tactical game, when you build your village it's a strategy game. When I'm list building, I feel like I'm playing X-Wing in a way.

10) Simplicity and Depth. I play this game with my four year old, it's simple enough that he can play it but it's deep enough that as a confessed ADD Gamer I'm still hooked on it.

Uhm in chess usually white wins because the game is not very well balanced :D

But yeah, those are good reasons to like x.wing.

Lol, well, when you wander from game to game looking for something fun - and then you play Imperial Assault (awesome game) and on a whim pick up X-Wing and are hooked on both, yeah, you really appreciate what you got.

I agree with the OP, and I still love FFG... but recently they have been testing that affection.

Isn't that the truth. Life lesson right there :/

I have but one complaint.......

.......that I didn't know about them sooner :)

But I'm going to collect Force Awakens, and Episode VIII and IX stuff anyway. So I've arrived at the best time.

I can definitely concur about the fantastic customer service. FFG just sent me replacements for some defective workmanship on some ships I bought recently. Thanks FFG :D!
