Special Modifications: Custom fit

By Enjeryuu, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I might just be having poor reading skills on this one, but is there anywhere in the books that actually mentions you gaining setback dice on athletics or stealth checks while in armor? Or is that just a GM fiat thing?

Pretty sure it's a GM thing. I've never seen rules to support it.

I seem to remember reading something somewhere as a suggestion. I could see imposing Setbacks for trying to sneak/crawl quietly in a ventilation duct while wearing laminate armor.

The Enviro-suit armor specifically adds a setback to Agility-based and Perception checks. That's the only one I know of.

The active camo (I think?) mentions that it wouldn't work with things like laminate armor that make a lot of noise. That's the only mention of something like that I can think of aside from the above mentioned enviro-suit.

Difficult terrain? Low light or smoky conditions?

Well, I don't feel so bad about not being able to find it then. Weird having an attachment to negate a penalty that it doesn't even have guidelines for applying.

Jedi Armor specifically adds two setback dice if a successful mechanics check hasn't made to fit it to the character.

The rules for applying setback dice are very clear in all three iterations of the core rules. The Custom Fit attachment doesn't just remove setback dice imposed by wearing armour, they remove setback dice from all sources to those two skills. And you should be applying setback dice to your players' checks all the time, for any reason you can think of.

Which is ridiculous, since the only armors that have the HP for a camo system are heavy armors.

At which point you don't need the Custom Fit attachment.

Nope!

1) They are few, but they do exist.

2) The tinkerer talent can expand that number to include many more totally appropriate armors.

Isnt there a new armor with 5 HP aswell?

There is. And added to that there's now the armour crafting system which opens up all kinds of possibilities.
