Futurama BSG Characters

By JerusalemJones, in Battlestar Galactica

At our store, since February, we have been playing BSG games with the main characters from Futurama. After months of playtesting (which, we admit, we still do occasional tweaks to our characters), we are finally ready to "reveal" these cahracters to the rest of the gaming community.

These images are hosted at our store's website, and each is roughly 1.8 meg in size, and are pdfs. They are printout ready, and setup for 12x18 paper. They are slightly larger than normal BSG character cards, but is sized down to 11x17 (shrink to fit) they will come in closer to regular size.

Here are the links to the four pages:

The Support page also has our two Cylon Leaders. We are working on a third, but have not designed it yet.

Hope you enjoy. Feedback is welcome. And we are willing to discuss our design concepts about the cards.

Awesome!, I have questions:

What are the lines of succession?

I assume Fry can fly a viper?

Can Cubert take two turns in a row?

Is the crisis card from Zoidburg's OPG resolved 'in addition to,' or 'instead of,' the crisis card for that turn?

Can Nixon use his OPG to get out of the Brig if he's the President?

What were you thinking when you left out Morbo?

I must have passed off the wrong frame/template when we were updating the characters. My versions of the futurama characters had small icons in the frams numbering where each character was on the track for admiralcy and presidency. You should be able to match the card draw to the original character and figure out the positions from that though.

Yes, since Fry draws piloting cards he can pilot a viper. As I recall he is effectively the same as Helo.

No Cubert cannot take two turns in a row. His once per game only allows him to take his turn following another players turn in exchange for missing his next turn. He could take his turn, let the next player take their turn, then jump in and take a second turn, but skip his turn when it gets around to him.

The crisis card from zoidbergs OPG action is in addition to the crisis card for the turn. This can be particularly nasty is zoidberg is a cylon and is given executive orders.

Good question on Nixon. I would say he probably could, but it obviously leaves himself in sickbay. It a pretty cheesy move in my opinion, but not without merit. It has been used to get another player out of the bring when we were playtesting these.

We were thinking that Morbo would be a decent cylon leader, but difficult to determine specific abilities for. I did include him as a cylon loyalty card with the ability can damage ships. If you are not in the brig destroy 1 raptor or damage 4 vipers in the reserves.

Here are my less polished versions of the character cards and my loyalty cards. picasaweb.google.com/joe.argonel/BSGCards

this is pretty entertaining, though I question why you put several characters where they are, although I noticed many of them show up a lot. For example, Fry is anything but a pilot, political leader, I suppose. Bender (Bending) Rodrieguez should be Support, and draw more than 1 engineering.... and possibly treachery as well. You hit the major characters, but I would like to see Lrr from Omicron Perseii 8 as a Cylon leader, and maybe a pilot version of the man with no name, Zap Brannigan.

Edit: Oh, and also Santa as a Cylon leader. I don't think there's a better Cylon leader than Santa.

Some people just seemed to fit in particualr roles, or we were missing places, so we put them there. Bender originally was a political leader until we realized taht we forgot to make the Professor. Nixon and Hermes had to be Political, Zapp and Kif were Military, Leela and Nibbler were pilots. Zoidberg was obviously support. Since Amy made no sense as Political or Military, she became a pilot. That left Fry and Bender in limbo, and Fry became the Helo spot. Lee Lemon then became our 4th Military, more out of needing someone to fill that spot.

We didn't change the card draws as we didn't want to have to continously tweak them for balance. Scruffy was the only real change from any existing model, but he is so much fun to play.
