So I went to my FLGS with a 75pt list (looking for a partner for a 150 pt. team list). I had a contracted scout and 4-LOM. I mostly wanted to play the new ships as I haven't had a chance to play them since I bought them. Another team showed up with their 150 pt list but I didn't have a partner, so I through some more ships on my list. I loaded up a YV-666 with Bossk and a z-95 black sun. One dude was flying a 75 pt Decimator and the other had whisper and the Inquisitor.
I've lurked here a while and have seen many people praise engine upgrade for large base ships, but never understood it until this match. The other team focused on the contracted scout, 4-LOM, and Z-95 first. Bossk hammered the Deci (which got flown into rocks several times, which also helped me out). Near the end of the match, it was just Bossk vs Whisper. Whisper was behind Bossk, so i fled out of range along the map's edge and boosted away. I stayed out of range and he followed me, but didn't try to intercept me, and ended up in my secondary arc and he had been stressed so he couldn't cloak. Zap! no more Whisper. I didn't think I was going to win as my list was pretty much thrown together.
I knew big ships movement was affected by their large bases, but I never understood how much difference a boost could make. Of course, my opponents weren't thinking about the potential damage output from Bossk, either, so my other ships chipped away at theirs while getting destroyed. I'm liking Bossk, but a lot of his success was because of my opponents not focusing on him. Dengar as a crew member is pretty cool, too, but he was on the scout.
