You're my only hope! No. Really.

By Sanguinary Dan, in X-Wing Squad Lists

This is the list I'm taking to the Stele Open this weekend.

B-WING PLUS

B-Wing & 2x T-70

100 points

PILOTS

Keyan Farlander (41)

B-Wing (29), Fire-Control System (2), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Veteran Instincts (1), B-Wing/E2 (1), Hera Syndulla (1)

Ello Asty (31)

T-70 X-Wing (30), R2 Astromech (1), Adaptability (0), Integrated Astromech (0)

Red Squadron Veteran (28)

T-70 X-Wing (26), R4-D6 (1), Crack Shot (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

At this point I've played it twice. Real Life has conspired against me and those are the only two games I've played in well over a month. I assumed (And we all know what that means) that I'd get in more games so I played in an Armada league. And while I came in 2nd, I then lost 4 weeks of practice time for X-Wing.

So any and all tweaks, etc. are more than welcome. Basically... HELP!

Thanks.

I might drop the HLC on Keyan to a Mangler (I know! but with FCS you'll have that TL to help push damage through). Then, I'd throw BB8 on Asty for all the insanity of all the maneuvers and switch adaptability for VI to take advantage of all those actions. This allows you to bump your Red Vet to a 2 point astromech or an initiative bid. as well as have 2 PS9s in your corner.

Keyan Farlander (41)
B-Wing (29), Fire-Control System (2), Mangler Cannon (4), Veteran Instincts (1), B-Wing/E2 (1), Hera Syndulla (1)

Ello Asty (31)
T-70 X-Wing (30), BB-8 (2), Veteran Instincts (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

Red Squadron Veteran (28)
T-70 X-Wing (26), R4-D6 (1) (or any 2 pt droid), Crack Shot (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

I get the logic between Mangler and FCS, but BB-8 and I have a deal. I don't put him in my lists and the little round bastard doesn't flip me the bird. ;) Basically every time I've tried to use him the green maneuver is exactly the opposite of what I needed.

I will consider the Mangler though. Having that Crit come up can be a life saver when facing Imperial aces.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Tomorrow is the tournament and I'm really excited (nervous) to see how I'll do.

You will have to do some red maneuvers to take advantage of Keyan's ability, and it looks like you planned on that with Hera. Are you guessing you won't have actions much and a big ol' pile of stress? I like running Keyan with some way to self stress aside from maneuvers, but Hera should help you out (at the expense of actions).

I'm not 100% sold on the HLC either. With only a 2 k-turn I think you are going to be fighting at range one and unable to use it as often as you are at range three and it denies that extra green die. Mangler could work, but you could try something off the wall like Tractor Beam, and count on his primary for damage most of the time.

That could squeeze enough points for a z-95 or something, perhaps.

I am not a fan of that Keyan build. You want to make sure you have stress every turn. PTL is the most obvious EPT to take for it. I am also a fan of advanced sensors on Keyan as well. With Stress as Focus and two actions you can always get a target lock if needed.

Other than that seems good to me.

Stay on target for Keyan is always good too..

Ok, while Parralax55's build tempted me I'm going to stick with my original. I'll report back with results sometime tonight. Should the good Lord truly smile upon me I may even report from the elimination rounds tomorrow. :) But I think he'll have to be in a really good mood for that. :D

Well. I had cold dice and large based opponents combining to leave me with a 1-5 record. I never knew that the average number of hits from a rerolled HLC was two. ;)

Was it large turrets or just the sheer number of hull and shields you had to go through? I always feel a little bit naked when I go into a match without a large tank, but that's just my play style I think. While I know that many folks have had boatloads of success with small bases, I always seem more comfortable when I can "tank n' flank". Probably why I really enjoy playing scum!

On a side note, I'm not sure if the math bears this out, but it just feels like focus tokens push more damage through than TL's. Plus you get the bonus of being able to use it on defence if you roll hot attack dice...

Mainly it was lots of tanky hit points and my inability to score a decent number of hits. I'd get a great roll from my X-Wings, a hit and two crits, while his shields were up. And then be lucky to roll a single hit once they were down. Very unpleasant.

I really like the way the list played, just didn't like my luck. The B-Wing with Hera is a terrific dogfighter. It can maneuver with almost anything. And Keyan treating Stress as Focus is beautiful. Just not when your dice are cold.

I think I need to replace the Red Vet with a cheaper A-Wing and upgrade Ello to Poe. With that I should have less trouble with arc dodgers and a blocker with the speed and dial an X lacks.

This will be the next iteration I try. I even thought about the Attack Shuttle, but I couldn't find a version that I like at the same points as the Green Squadron pilot.

B-Wing plus Mk.II (99)

Keyan Farlander (41) - B-Wing

Veteran Instincts (1), Fire Control System (2), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), B-Wing/E2 (1), Hera Syndulla (1)

Poe Dameron (35) - T-70 X-Wing

Veteran Instincts (1), R5-P9 (3), Integrated Astromech (0)

Green Squadron Pilot (23) - A-Wing

Adaptability (0), Proton Rockets (3), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Guidance Chips (0), Crack Shot (1)

Played the upgraded list yesterday against Kath (w/Dengar), Kavil and a Scyk. It was tremendous fun. Sure Kath killed me in the end. So many modified dice are scary. But switching to Poe and the Green Squaddie paid off dramatically. Can't wait to get some more games in with this list.
