Tel Trevura's ability and Blinded Pilot

By Grivoire, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Sitrep:

PS7 Tel with R5P8 VS PS1 Academy pilot

Round 1: PS1 AP shoots crit, Tel suffers blinded pilot. PS0 next round.

Round 2: PS1 AP shoots first, Tel dies the first time. Cancels all damage cards (including blinded pilot), Place 4 facedown damage cards.

Now that the phoenix has risen from the dead, so does his PS.

Questions:

#1 does he still get to shoot back at PS1 AP in Round 2, or is it considered as "missed opportunity" now that he's back to PS7 (PS7 combat phase activation already over since PS1 already shoots)?

#2 I'm quite sure R5-P8 won't trigger when Trevura is dead for the first time since destroying a ship is part of damage resolution (before "after defending" phase starts), but can anyone clarify this?

I encountered this situation when playing against a friendly fella on Vassal yesterday. I flew the Tel and want to confirm the correct proceedings for future reference. Thanks!

#1 Tel would be the next ship to shoot after clearing that crit. The rules don't say anything about there being a specific timing window for each PS value to attack. In the combat phase, the highest PS ship that has not activated does so. There are rules for how to handle ships with the same PS.

RRG, pg. 9
"COMBAT PHASE
During the Combat phase, each ship has an opportunity
to perform one attack, starting with the ship with the
highest pilot skill and continuing in descending order."
#2. R5-P9 would be able to trigger off of the attack that triggers Tel's Pilot ability. Tel is only ever destroyed once.

There was a similar possibility with prox mines dropped onto a ship causing a crit that removed veteran instincts at the particular ps to cause the target to miss its opportunity to move. An email from frank said to play it as if the ship kept the modified ps until it had had its chance. I would imagine the same would apply here.

Thanks for the input guys. We agreed on letting Tel get a shot that round and triggered R5P8 so I guess we kinda played it out right :D
