So the complaints about the Contracted Scout's EPT got me thinking. There's never really been a clear rationale to what pilots have Elite Upgrades and which don't. Horton Salm doesn't, but the Green Squadron Pilot does. So, what if Elite Upgrades worked like Modifications and Titles? Sure, some Pilot abilities would need to be reconsidered (Epsilon Leader+PTL would be silly), Adaptability would probably have to go, and it wouldn't help every Pilot (Lt. Lorrir would still be bad due to the stress token), but would this be a bad idea for a revised version of the game?
What if Every Pilot could take an elite Upgrade?
If only Winged Gundark could take Calculation or Backstabber could take Outmaneuver...
I'm not sure I'd be a fan of 6 Academy Pilots and howlrunner all with crackshot.
Edited by McFoylet me take wampa with calculation
Wampa with Marksmanship.... I win
Funny how all the examples are TIE fighters.
Wampa with Marksmanship.... I win
You really don't, because you said "Marksmanship".
Red Ace with juke also comes to mind.
Yeah, 10 named TIE Fighter pilots and only 4 can take an EPT.
I do wish there was a little bit more of a rhyme and reason to who gets EPTS, never made sense to me when a PS3 has a ept but a PS5 does not, or when non named pilots have them and some named pilots do not.
To quote 'The Incredibles' - "When everyone is special, no one is."
Kir Kanos... with PTL he'd be pretty good.
It would definitely break some ships though. Can you imagine a Ghost with Expose?
It would brake the game.
All unique pilots may take an Elite Talent. Any unique pilot with the Elite Talent symbol on his upgrade bar may take 2 Elite Talents. Unique A-Wing pilots with the Elite Talent symbol on their upgrade bar and Test Pilot may take up to 3 Elite Talents.
Edited by Levi PorphyrogenitusI'll say again that in an X-Wing 2.0, I'd like to see PTL turned into a core rule. Granted: it would mean the game would have to be totally rethought.
Think of a 5 AP with Ruthlessness, Pred, Outmanver Push the Limit, Juke, or even 2 of them with Intimidation, You still 2 AP with Adapt to mess with people. Or 6 Z-95s with EPT and some missile boats.
Think if you took 1 Z-95 with Tracer, 5 with Cluster and gave everyone Calc and Guid Chips. Its 99 points that can wreck.
Scum could take 5 at 95 (someone would be upgraded to an Ace but this is an idea)
Binayre Pirate — Z-95 Headhunter 12 Cluster Missiles 4 Glitterstim 2 Guidance Chips 0
Crack Shot 1 (crack shot would work for both attacks)

if u linkined it to the ship cost it might work so say everything worth 25pts or more? or perhaps all unique pilots.
you coulld even say it cost an extra point?

Fly him with Youngster.
The Earth would spin off its axis.
Kir Kanos... with PTL he'd be pretty good.
Lorir with Predator or Outmaneuver might be kind of swell.

Giving them to unique pilots makes sense but ship cost wouldn't be a good idea because then every large base would have one available while Z-95's, scyks, Tie Fighters would have none.
Biggs with R4-D6 and Wired would be gross. Get hit, take a stress token to reduce the damage, and gain the ability to reroll any eyeballs.
Mux would pretty much always take Predator.
Miranda Doni with Opportunist would also be annoying as hell to deal with.
Try it out for a few games. Whats stopping you?
Mux would pretty much always take Predator.
Dengar kind of solved that problem didn't he?
Edit: Duh. Mux's ability + Predator is very sweet.
Edited by WWHSDI'm toying with the idea of allowing the one use EPTs for certain builds. Nothing firm yet, just a itch to see if would be interesting or broken.
