Ships without a role?

So there is constant discussion of ships that are broken, need fixed or are not viable. But I think most ships have multiple roles in the current meta. Now I'm not talking about every pilot for every ship, but if a ship can be used on the low and high pilot skill end, it's sitting pretty good.

There are only a few ships I can think of that don't fit this currently. For the rebels Z-95, B-wing and E-wing

REBELS

Z-95, this seems to be only filler, I don't see the named pilots much.

A-wing, blockers and aces see plenty, new cards have brought new life to them.

B-Wing, it seems to be suffering from the one agility right now, but just like the Z-95, I rarely see any named pilots, though it's not because they have bad abilities, they are too easily focused on for the points spent.

Y-wings, generally only see cheap ones, though not because they are bad, I never see the named pilots either, there just seems to be better options for the points.

X-Wing(T-65), though I would like something more for a fix, they seems to be back, the named pilots have awesome abilities and a Rookie pilot isn't the worst option for 22 points.

T-70, I see no issues here

HWK, never a hugely popular ship, it's probably used just as much now as ever. Abilities are great,they just eat up a lot of points if you want then to be able to shoot.

Falcon, ORS, really? Possibly the biggest mistake in the game. But who cares, if you are flying the Falcon you want one of the named pilots.

E-wing, outside of Corran, I never see it, so yes this needs something similar to what just happened to the Defender.

K-wing, I see nothing wrong here, TLT, high health, ordnance. It just doesn't match everyone's play style.

YT-2400, I don't see much other than Dash, but I don't think there is anything wrong with the other pilots other than low pilot skill.

Ghost and phantom are new and see a lot of play right now.

Z-95 - I see Airen Cracken from time to time for action economy. Blout has new life with the Tracer Missiles

A-Wing - Jake and Tycho are always popular. 4x Green's are always fun.

Y-Wings - Sure, having 4x with TLT is easy, same thing with a stress hog, Horton is a blast with TLT.

X-Wing - other than Biggs and Wedge, situational for lists. Wes isn't a bad option in the current Jumpmaster Meta.

T-70 - Regen is pretty dead with Ordnance spam. Useful, sure, good? Probably not.

HWK - Aaron Bonner won a Store Championship with one (Kyle). Jan also has some fun uses.

Falcon - Han and Chewie only. Lando isn't seen. ORS? Laoughable....

K-Wing - Miranda only, but again pretty dead with current meta.

Ghost is great and there are so many ways to build it out. The new "Hotness".

Phantom? Haven't seen much in the way of them yet. Though, for fun I have seen and played around with 4 of them......

I kinda want generic Z-95s with an EPT so they can be fancy crackswarm pilots also, if they want to. Cheap generics with EPT slots are fun for the whole family.

Can we has 14pt Z-95s with an EPT slot? PS5 for Rebz and PS4 for Scum? I give you a candy...

Nera has had some new life breathed in to her with GC, being one of the only ships that can use their auto crit function and has multiple ordinance slots combined with her ability she really shines right now but can be vulnerable to focus fire.

Hey, speaking of Miranda, if you put TLT on her are you able to regenerate 2 shields in a turn?

Z-95 has a lot of roles. You just called it "filler", but I think a few of these ships thrown into a list can do a lot. For one, it's a blocker, just like the cheap Academy Pilot. Next, a number of them can fire at an enemy target and do damage. They can also hold Missiles. While they don't have an EPT (generics, that is), they can be given actions by other Rebel pilots. This can make them do more damage. Z-95's are the proper swarm ship of the Rebels.

B-wings are fine as is. I don't see a need to change them at all.

Generic E-wings do need something, though.

All ships have a role. Fodder.

I use Dutch in a Ywing constantly with Ion Cannon. His Target lock ability really helps out on giving Poe a lock and a focus. Same thing with giving locks to others at times.

As for the Z-95s I see a lot of scum generics less Rebel ones.

And almost always se eBlount whenever people go with just one Rebel Z-95, now sometimes they have Blount and generics.

By filler, I'm referring to them filling in when you can't afford the 15 point prototype or if you have 12/13 points, it's a great option. It works great as a blocker, but not as good as an A-wing. I also didn't think of them carrying a missile, gives them a cheap punch. Blount was an obvious counter to swarms and stealth device, Cracken can be great, but I never see them. I should edit to say eat blocker though, thanks.

When I build a list, I always try to get a blocker (unless it's aces only) and I almost always end up with the Z, as I only have 12 or 13 points to spare.

Blount and the Banditos: Tracers on the leader and Concussion MIssiles plus Chips on the Bandits.

Not necessarily once Long Range Scanners comes out they will be rather nasty. Just ask the guy i have been testing the following list out on.

Not unbeatable by any means but the Kwings shine like a supernova with LRS
