I haven't bought a Gozanti or CR-90. I've got a little restraint.
Could you ever stop?
X-Wing for me is like using glitterstim. Try once. Never stop.
My collection is up to 90 or so total ships (at least one of everything!) and at this point it would take a major effup for me to stop buying ships. And extra tokens. And nifty lasers. And awesome cases.
Is there an accessories group too? Or just X-Wing anonymous?
Can't stop. Won't stop.
I know exactly when I'll quit collecting X-Wing models.
The day they release the holo table edition of the game. ![]()
I can and I will, but not today!
Or tomorrow...
Or the day after that...
Or...
I have actually been planning to unload about half my ships, which probably means selling off 30-40 ships at this point. I'll prob keep picking up 1-2 of each new ship, but never again 3+ of anything.
Shut down that nasty GW binge pretty hard once I had enough of their Mahsta's of tha Youuuuu-niverse! attitude.
If a company is going to try and have longevity and be a real player in the realm of tabletop gaming then they have to treat their customers like real people. You know what? X-WIng may not last forever, but FFG could have longevity. They seem to be focused on the community and even if over time their product range changes I'm sure a lot of us will stick with them. I know that I take a second look at games if they have the FFG brand based on my positive experience with X-Wing! Diskwars could maybe be a skip but that's okay, haha! Most of FFGs GW stuff is unappealing to me but that's okay.
So as long as FFG maintains the standard and doesn't become like GW, then I'll continue to enjoy it. Heck, I can even put up with a little corporate crap like I did for GW, but ultimately, it's an ongoing relationship and I always play hard to get.
Could I stop? Yep
Will I stop? Nope
But then, I've only just started.
I sold my collection after wave 6 (not because of the game, but because of life circumstances changing). Moved to a place with no X-wing players and then saw Force Awakens.
Ordered the new core set pretty much immediately after leaving the theater and have been slowly re-acquiring. Found a store to play at 1 state over that I drive to once a week. I definitely have more restraint now with my purchases though (hindsight allows me to skip certain ships until they are fixed) and I mostly buy newer stuff that I didn't have before so as not to "re-buy" too many ships.
My rules are: Buy no more than 1 copy of a particular expansion and I have to be able to fit my entire collection into a single case.
I've already (kinda) broken rule number 2 becuase I bought the gozanti and store it at the game store in the front case. That way the owner can display it and get people excited about the game and I can use it as a loophole in my rules.
Can't stop, won't stop.
Nope, probably not.
Quick question: I need an A-Wing. Should I buy the single A-Wing expansion pack or the Rebel Aces? I'll probably get both EVENTUALLY, but it could be months. Which has the biggest impact immediately?
See my problem is that I can afford to not stop. That's dangerous lol.
[...] I know that I take a second look at games if they have the FFG brand based on my positive experience with X-Wing!
Funny I've looked at it quite differently. If it has an FFG brand I have to consider before, I purchase, how many expansions I will have to purchase to make the game repayable/fun; some games need an expansion just for replay. Others need expansions for a more complete game experience and of course then consider how many expansions after that I want to purchase for a broader appeal. The buy in for me is more critical than it used to be because of the expansion model. I know other games cost more but I don't buy those either. I would prefer not to spend $300 plus for a game in order for that to be enjoyable.
Don't get me wrong. Fantasy Flight has a lot going for it that I love. The Star Wars Universe, detailed pre-painted miniatures, themes like the Star Wars Universe and H.P. Lovecraft. I have several games. I just don't buy like I used to without care. Before I would purchase a game and play. If it wasn't fun I bought something else not more expansions. I purchased more without care; not I have to ask 'is this something I want to get into'.
Nope, probably not.

Rebel Aces. Gives you Chardaan Refit and A-Wing Test Pilot upgrades.
Nope, probably not.

I know my next Imperial purchase is the Inquisitor's TIE, my next Rebel one is Rebel Aces, but I'm stuck on my next Scum purchase. When I'm list building I always feel like there's a gap or something missing. I like to have a lot of different types of lists, and I prefer 3-4 ship builds. Here's what I got in Scum:
3 Z-95s
1 Firespray
1 HWK
1 Kihraxyz
1 Starviper
2 Y-Wings
1 Jumpmaster
I feel like I should get the Mist Hunter next because I can slip it into a lot of builds because it's cheap, but on the other hand the Aggressor is so maneuverable.
the fixes and aces/veterans expansions have me hooked.
I had a set goal to get one of everything, which is a good place to end up on a limited budget and can be done within 1.5 years, as right now X-wing comes in around 850 for 1 of everything (small, large, epic) which in most cases nets you 1-2 of every small ship thanks to scum and ace boxes. If your not playing in Torys its a lot of toys to play with, and even if your rocking the torny scene you have some great options. I know I still want to pick up a few dups and replace the HWK my son just broke. (he is 19 months and I stupidly left it out on my desk last week)
Just need a CR-90 to be complete, and just a handful of ships to have 2 of each small at this point. I could not be happier.

The mist hunter is in a bad spot right now as it feels like a b-wing when b-wings are not played much. The aggressor is a much better buy unless you need a tracker beam. At somepoint if you are collecting everything get one, there just not useful in the current meta.

... I just noticed, but we are literally always waiting for our next fix.
I told myself I could easily stop after Wave 8. After all, as a child growing up in the 80's, the Original Trilogy was IT for me, and this last wave finally gave me all the ships to the iconic characters from those movies.
ALL the bounty hunters.
ALL the main movie characters as well as ALL the Disney Rebels.
I didn't / don't need anything else to feel complete in this game.
And then those **** Defender previews came out this week. Those amazing previews. *sigh*
And just like that, I'm back in and can't wait for the release!

Somebody should fix that.
Rebel Veterans, I need my rebel veterans man!
Collecting more Xwing?
HEL & NAH!!!
