Not unless FFG discontinues the game. Maybe not even then.
Could you ever stop?
Blail I was there for many of those, "I'm only getting one ship from Wave 7" conversations. Though the words you spoke were always genuine they were indeed hollow. You had the fever. For me the question is not could I stop but can I stop myself but instead, can I limit myself to two or three of any given ship?

I actually only got 1 technically for myself... Khriazsdfsdf....
But of course, I got the Hounds Tooth for a friend, who leaves it with me. But I've only played it once. (Good buy though. Was good for them).
And you nicely got me a Punisher. =P
I still don't have a K-wing.
And I dont have the G1A or the Ghost.
And still missing the IGs.
But I don't really miss those ships much.
I;m actually still not sure the T70 was worth it either... Or the TieFOs. Though maybe one single expo one. I've not used them much. As pretty as they are.
Definitely probably didn't need a 2nd starviper.
Nor 4 tie advanced. 2 probably was enough. I like Juno enough to run her with Vader.
I'm definitely not going to need a 4th or 5th tie Defender. I might just get a single copy of Imp Vets instead of the two I was planning to get... As it seems I probably won't need 3 x7 titles or tie D titles. Nor 4 tie shuttle titles. I can proxy the extra.
The models are just so beautiful though. Dunno if I'll be happy only have a single Red Defender, when they seem like they should go in pairs.

Funny enough, I'm pretty happy about my Armada purchases. Though I'm kind of wanting one more Raider for 3 raider 2 Glads.
I can't see myself ever stopping; I'm not a 'traditional' wargamer, I've never played 40K and am more of a boardgamer and RPG player, but I ******* love Star Wars and this game has its claws in me.
I love the thrill of playing, and enjoy repainting and modding when I can, so I can't see myself stopping. I'll probably skip things like dial upgrades and colored bases, but THIS is my one tabletop miniature game I'll indulge in.
I could stop without much trouble. There are plenty of different, but as well entertaining past-times and when I do not play, I do not need to buy ships. But I do not see me stopping this year at least, which means I will get most likely one of each first. ;-)
The mist hunter is in a bad spot right now as it feels like a b-wing when b-wings are not played much. The aggressor is a much better buy unless you need a tracker beam. At somepoint if you are collecting everything get one, there just not useful in the current meta.
I don't think the Misthunter should be viewed as a B-wing....or even that B-wings are bad now. Hmmm...where to start?
I think massed B-wings suffer from Imperial Aces type lists. One can hope that with Imp Vets coming out that people will play fewer Imp Aces types lists. It does get a little old. I do wonder, though, if just one or two B-wings in a list could do well. They are not bad vs. U-boats and a lot of other ships. Just massed B-wings suffer from arc dodgers.
The named Misthunters are really good, though, and have good special abilities. I wouldn't think you would have more than 1 in a list, but that's OK. You don't need it. I think that Scum has so many unique pilots and ships that they are the best to mix and match your list with a lot of odd things. 4-LOMs ability to pass off stress is pretty darn good and vs. Imp Aces types. I think the named guys are pretty effective and different enough to be worth while.
Whenever someone says they're not getting all the ships from a new wave, all I can think is

Yo I don't know. Turn off the lights and I'll glow.
Only in the name of love.
Well... I say that, but in reality...
I would do anything for love, but I won't do that.
I'd never lie to you and that's a fact.![]()

I didn't get the Hound's Tooth. I just don't care for it for some reason. I have every other ship, except the Rebel Transport and the Tie Phantom. I fear I might have to buy the Tie Phantom if I want to do the HotAC campaign with my son, though.

Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. Suffering in a world without the sweet, sweet TIE Phantom on your gaming table.
(Also, the Hound's Tooth ain't the most beautiful bus in space, but she sure packs in a lot of crew!)

I am happy if I never see another Tie Phantom on any table in my life. I think it's the worst ship in the game. With Advanced Cloaking Device, you either have the hard counter to deal with it (and kill it easy) or you don't and it destroys your whole list. One mistake in one turn and you can lose the whole game with the Tie Phantom. It leads to having lists that always have the hard requirements against it and really narrows down list building. It's the worst example of rock/paper/scissor in the game.

Have you played with the new de-cloak rules? It's still a good ship, but not the same "beat it or don't" monstrosity it was before.

I have, yet I don't think it changes enough. It's not as horrible as before, but it's still the same situation. You either have the things that are hard counters to him or you don't. I feel that Advanced Cloaking Device is what kills it. You still have the high PS Phantoms that fire those murderous guns and can crush so many things. You then can't really hit them back afterwards. The only options are to have a higher PS ship that can fire at it shoot before it cloaks or some way to cause Stress so it can't re-cloak. If you don't have a higher PS or a way to cause Stress, then your chances of beating it are slim.
The new nerf horribly mangles the phantom. It's incredibly easier to beat now with blocking as a low PS. I played phantoms a lot. Honestly I think you should give them a try.
Edited by Blail BlergIf I wasn't so lazy I would post a Boromir "One does not simply stop buying xwing ships" meme.

I agree above that the Phantom does need either a hard counter, high PS pilot to focus on it or something stress inducing. I don't think blocking it is very easy.
However I love the ship so I'm on the other side of the fence. Thematically wasn't the TIE/ph in very limited supply and only used for special missions. Otherwise a full wing of these in the EU could have won most any engagement and ruled the galaxy. Well mostly the few important planets at least. With the above comment and the overall theme of the fighter I don't think it is well suited for simple space combat dog fights. Like you said it will either shine or die with very few matches falling somewhere in between. I thought the best use of the Phantom would be to limit it to one or even two maximum and only deploy it in Epic games, games with mission goals or some future game with a base.
Somehow this just seems like the proper use for this beauty.
