Could you ever stop?

Collecting more Xwing?

I said I was gonna stop like wave5. Then wave6 happened, and I was like: no scum. Well. Wave 7 came around, and made the game seem pretty glorious. (barring some TLT OPness). And well, now I have wave8. Didn't work apparently.

I originally wanted it so that I have all the nice fixes and stuff for the ships I have.

Right now that still requires:

Defenders/Bombers

t65

hwks

starvipers

sycks

khiraxxxxx

I don't think I'm ever going to be able to stop and say, "I have an aesthetically, artistically, balanced and complete collection of the ships I have now."

My hope is that I'll retire some glorious day in the future and FFG will still be making new waves of X-Wing and I'll still be buying ships. I also hope it is still a coherent line and that my original TIE Fighters and X-Wings can still be placed on the table with whatever is in Wave 20... competitive or not, just so that they all still exist in the same game. I can modify parameters, I just would prefer to not have an X-Wing 2.0... just keep it rolling and growing.

Ive stopped until the assault gunboat comes out. With the exception of the TAP. And possibly imperial aces. And maybe wave 9...

Nope. Two weeks ago I got a 3rd Jumpmaster and decided to stop buying until wave 9. 9ne week later I'm looking into buying a Defender :D

Don't think I can stop. Don't think I really want to :P

When I started into X-Wing 16 months ago, it was described to me as "plastic crack". At the time I thought it was funny. Now I think it's accurate.

The Veteran shopping

I can stop any time I want. Right?

I pre-ordered everything for wave 8 except for the Ghost... and then when I walked into the store to fetch my pre-order, I saw the Ghost and bought it anyway despite the fact that I have yet to play Rebels... oh well!

It would take either some hideous revelation about FFG (like they fund the KKK or something) or some fundamentally stupid change to the rules that made the game unbalanced/not fun anymore. Maybe a second edition that required you to buy the ships all over again.

FFG funding the KKK?

I thought buying KKK was good for the FFG because it's Core+K+K+K+Phantom+Phantom+Phantom expansions

Hi my name is X Wing Nut and I'm an addict

its been 3 weeks since my last purchase and 9 days since my last tournament and feel the urge to give in

word on the street is something new is on it way soon and I don't know if I'm strong enough to resist

this addiction is causing me to not spend time with my family and when I'm with them the only thing I can think about is my next hit. the smell of new cardboard, the feel of tight dials, the look of a new ship that has not been dropped on the ground and had a small piece broken off. the excitement of build new lists and the rush you get when roll the dice on the first attack.

Hi my name is X Wing Nut and I'm an addict

I only buy the ships I foresee using, so is FFG stops releasing interesting stuff I will stop buying. There is no wave from which I own every ship, but I have something from every wave except wave 5.

As long as there are more TIEs, no.

I said I'd stop at the last several waves and haven't yet. Though Wave 7 K-Wings and Punishers were pushing the limit for me. For me, unfortunately, this has become as much a card collection game as a miniature game. I own S&V I'll never use.......

Honestly after the Imperial Veterans if there is an X-Wing Veterans that would be a real nice spot.

I say this but haven't yet seen what is coming. If they suddenly changed directions and came out with asteroids, bases, container ships and missions then I would undoubtedly be all in. As it is with a lot of people wanting more EU or prequel I'm on the fence.

I don't play what I own now...

I'm already all in. Either my life has to change unexpectedly and massively or FFG has to do something REALLY quite bad.

Eventually, probably. I doubt I'll ever get rid of my collection, but I'm sure I'll take a break at some point, as I have with Warhammer and Magic. Although, it has to be said that X-Wing is both easier and cheaper to collect than those games, and more suited for playing with relative beginners. It's also infinitely more portable than Warhammer, and putting together a squad requires much less effort than putting together a Magic deck. There's a balance between investment of time and money versus entertainment value that I think X-Wing does better than most similar games I've played, and that will likely keep me playing for a long time.

If I quit the game, sure. Then again, I've definitely slowed down my buying. I tend to get less of each wave when it comes out. I also didn't pick up the Hound's Tooth as it just doesn't interest me. I don't really feel the requirement to get it.

Eventually I'll stop, once it gets too unwieldy to store everything.

Gah! I'm already there! I've got 3 cases to carry things in.

12 Steps of X-Wing Anonymous:

  1. We admit we are powerless over X-Wing minis - that our budgets have become unmanageable
  2. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves - FFG - has taken over our lives, and nothing can restore our sanity
  3. We made a decision to turn our will and our budgets over to the care of X-Wing
  4. We made a searching and moral inventory of our OCD and completionist level
  5. We admitted to our family, friends, and even ourselves of the exact nature of our X-Wing desires
  6. We are entirely prepared to have FFG support, enhance, and care for our desires
  7. We humbly ask FFG to continue to produce X-Wing crack
  8. We made a list of all people we have beaten in X-Wing, if any, and are prepared to make amends by supporting their X-Wing plastic crack habit as well
  9. We made direct amends to such people wherever possible, by purchasing them additional minis, so long as those purchases do not cause us to have less than them
  10. We continue to take personal inventory of our X-Wing minis, and when we find that there are others who own more, we admit our mistakes, and rectify them asap
  11. We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious skill in the game of X-Wing, praying only for the proper Knowledge that will allow us to crush our competitors into dust
  12. We, having had a spiritual awakening as the result of processing the above steps, tried to carry this message to all others less fortunate than ourselves (in other words, they have less X-Wing Mini Crack than us)

I'm all Imperial and atm I have every Imp ship except bomber and vets so I'll buy that and I'm done buuuuuuuuuuuuuut my son plays Rebels and he needs new ships so buying ships for him won't count for me right....?

I will admit that if they release the TIE Raptor or TIE Hunter before the Assault Gunboat I probably would shake my head and walk away. But you know, that's it.

Even the TIE Hunter, if done well might be forgivable.

I only buy rebel and scum. So I save on storage and money. I also don't buy/fly any disney canon ships. So I guess once they get to the point where they only produce new canon ships...I'll stop buying but not stop playing.

I put my foot down when Scum were announced and do not own any Scum ships. If Resistance and First Order were broken off as separate factions then I'd sell what I had of them and not buy any more. I'm strictly a Rebels and Imperials kinda guy.

However, if FFG have a couple of waves in a row where the ships are like the KWing/TIE Punisher then that might make me re-think the approach of buying all Rebels and Imperials.
