Is this homebrew scenario doomed?

By Gilgafresh, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

So next week my group has a game (game 49 since we started playing in September 2014) and we've worked up a very different scenario for it.

It's for six players.

There are basically three galaxies. One galaxy includes Mecatol Rex at the center, surrounded by one ring of systems (4 regular, 2 special) and the two empty wormhole systems as the only tiles in the second ring, at opposite ends.

The other two galaxies have at their centers the systems with a planet and wormhole (Lodor/aplha, Quann/beta) and two rings of systems (3 home systems, 10 regular, 2 empty, 3 special) with home systems of course being in the second ring.

We have barred Ghosts of Creuss from this scenario for obvious reasons.

We're taking out the secret objective requiring you to have a ship in each wormhole

Whenever the game refers to a "neighbor" or "player to my left or right", it will mean the one in your starting galaxy.

Is there anything you can see going wrong with this or any suggestions you have to improve on it?

You can create a sort of "Thermopylae" scenario if you make the secret objectives only work in a galaxy other than the one you started in. Then there will be lots of action at the wormholes, and "break" where one or 2 players makes it through to keep it moving along quickly.

That's a pretty cool idea. Thanks. It'd definitely even out the conditions that the two galaxies are working with, so that they don't end up with a situation where one galaxy by necessity had lots of infighting while the other was allowed by circumstance to just cooperate and grow together. Might need to take out that secret objective about controlling lots of systems. Actually I might need to take that out anyway...

Anyway, thanks for the input!

Could have sworn I responded to this when it was first posted...

Anyway. The "preset maps" PDF on the TI product page under "player resources" has a very similar suggested setup, so apparently the game designers think it can work.
