At what range can a ship attack a squadron? Is it dependent on the dice color? Or is it only at close range?

it is dependent on the ship's anti-squadron dice, so dice color.

Black - short range

Blue - medium range

That's because its not there

it doesn't tell you to do anything different , so you assumedly have to do what you normally do, which is use Dice based on their Range
