After watching the first trailer, I think this movie will provide a lot of great resources to build off of. From the infantry battle scenes to tanks and the death star. I don't know how I'm going to wait until December for it to come out. I'm so darn excited!
Rogue One movie, any thoughts
Whenever I need to get back into character for my 8-year-veteran Rebellion Sergeant - who was a grunt guy for those years before being thrust into the wide world of special assignment - I watch that trailer. I think it will provide great material for GMs and players, and I hope it will provide a great feel and tone that we can draw off of.

I totally agree. One scene that sticks out for me is when you see the stormtroopers marching captured rebel pilots through the streets. You just know this isn't going to end well for them.
Anyone imagining starting their game from that point? ![]()
Doesn't necessarily mean the PCs are the prisoners but imagine them watching this happen and knowing they're going to be next if they're running Rebel characters!
And whether they'd actually try to rescue them only to realise its a set up or willingly let them walk off to whatever bad fate awaits them?

Actually I had an idea for a campaign in that all of the PC's are prisoners of the Empire, in a prisoner transfer to a new facility. And the opening session is them doing a jailbreak. That way you can have a really eclectic group of PC's, that may or may not have any connections to each other, yet they are all instantly on the same side when it comes to motivations.
OT:
Thoughts on it?
I think it looks interesting. The trailer was well edited to maximize tension and suspense. Whether or not the movie follows through with that is another matter.
Trailer creation has become an art form in and of itself these days, so I always take that stuff with a grain of salt. But I'm optimistic about the quality of the product at this time.
I like the POW escape idea. Then being chased down by bounty hunters and imperial agents.
i think roue one will be cool to go see.
