Is there a source to get additional proficiency dice seperately?

By SEApocalypse, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

I am aware that I can buy additional sets, but literally no chance to I ever need 9 ability dice, while our Groups Astromech is already using 6 Proficiency dice. So is there a source to get some yellow dice without all the pointless dice? I mean, I get it that they wanted to see each player multiple packages, but did they really need to make us buy 9 to 12 ability dice just to get the right amount proficiency dice.

It looks oddly on purpose, so I guess FFG has no plans to see proficiency dice separately? Are there any third party dice out already which I am not aware off?

Can I have some cheese?

You have a PC Astromech using 6 Proficiency dice "already"? That would require something like 6 Intellect and 6 Computers, for example.

Other than cost of scale I agree, an "Expert Pack" would be great, or just sets of solid colours.

Especially as skills only go up to 5 :)

(yeah, I know you can get 'upgrades' but mostly 5 yellow dice will see you through).

At the very least that way when a die goes missing (and come on - EVERYone here has had dice go on walkabout) you can easily replace it.

If you don't have them yet, the beginner boxes all have a dice set included. I bought only one extra dice set, so now I have four...plenty of dice for any occasion. The EotE, and especially the AoR, beginner sets are easily adapted and scaled up for a more competent crew.

If it helps I have the pdf FFG provided before the dice were available. You can print them onto sticker sheets, cut them out and put them on normal dice. Though I have since gotten the proper dice I still keep the home made one's as spares. PM me if you would like me to send them to you.

I've been lucky enough to not lose a single die out of any of my 6 sets.

Or Int 6, Mechanic 5 and a single dice upgrade, or 5/5 and two upgrades. That can be done with a rigger astromech, which a +1 Intellect Implant on his signature vehicle for about 75 xp and a few thousand credits. Which basically is the case here.

And I doubt that "mostly" does cut it when upgrading dice is a common mechanic and dedication is basically in every talent tree.

Though this is besides the point. So no separate proficiency dice it is?

Oh and we have already 5 or so dice sets on the table, but you have as well several player on the table and constantly passing dice around is annoying, using the dice app is against my purist dice views, just buying some yellow dice would be much more convenient than buying a AoR Beginners set for all players, throw away all dice except the two yellow ones. #firstworldproblems

I guess I wanted a blank dice set anyway, custom painting and a PM it is.

As I recall there is also a conversion chart in the book for using standard dice and what each number represents. Just pick up some properly colored dice and print out copies of that chart for everyone. Its on the top of Page 18 of the AoR Core Rulebook.

Have you tried eBay and/or your FLGS?

You could try the dice roller apps that are out there. You can have an infinite number of dice at that point.

I think the point is that the OP, like myself, prefers physical dice. :)

Well personally I found that having two set is optimal, if with the other player you have 4 set in total you can always pass those around, I understand liking to have your own dice I got myself white blank dice to make myself additional force dice but they simply collect dust as simply passing the dice around is a much easier and more lazy alternative, with the group sharing around 6 set we will never really lack any dice soon. :P

But I really hope you manage to get the dice you crave and I totally get the feeling as the custom dice where a thing that kept my group for even trying the game before a couple of months ago, as we initially saw it as a money grabbing scheme. but I came to really like the success plus advantage/disadvantage system, But I can't really justifie buying more then two set, after all you'll rarely see more then six green or purple dice in a check, more then 4 yellow should be pretty rare, personally I'm more worried about the one red dice as they are used in opposed check so two highly skilled character might actually need more of those but if not I just switch who as which side of the pool and it worked so far well enough. What might be annoying would be mid to high lvl force used always needing to burrow force dice might be irritating to the player but I have yet to get remotely close to that in any of my curent game.

PS: there is also sticker sheet you can find online, or you can find some and print them and stick them to basically any dice and maybe cover them with some varnish or something to protect them better, might not look as good but if you are dedicated to it you could probably get a decent result.

6 sets at our table, in a bowl in the middle, probably get a couple more as time goes on. its nice to be able to have players building dice pools while they are waiting to act, then when its their turn i just check the difficulty and they can roll away, speeds things up quite a bit.
