Challenge Coin Question

By Fuzzywookie, in X-Wing

I would just pick the coin up and say thanks I need a pog slammer

Glad to know someone has finally found a use for these scraps of metal.

HEHE Pog remember when they evolved into Tazos?

I like them for determining initiative.

Mine heavily favour one side...

I am glad my CAC coin is better for flipping than the FFG ones.

They make really great pog slammers.

Okay, what's a "pog slammer".

Sometimes I feel like I stumbled into a foreign language chat room. :-(

Playing pogs was like elementary school gambling. We played for pinks. If you didn't have a hologram slammer with its own carry tube you were such a chump.
Pogs seemed to have been a thing for all of six weeks.
Okay, I'm not sure I understand completely but we'll just let it go. It must be a "youngster" thing.
I'm sorry I was on my phone and wanted to provide a proper link, but couldn't in the moment. Anyway, here you go:https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_caps_(game)

Very interesting! I had never heard of POG before this post. Thanks for thd link!

Bucket list:

Item #31:

Derail a thread on a popular online forum into a discussion about pogs.

CHECK!

:D

If you don't want a thread derailed, don't mention strange games or use weird words that make us old guys scratch our heads and ask "WTH are they talking about". :-)

How old do you have to be to not know what Pogs are?

Initiative token counters challenge coin.

But for more info (Caution language)

They were originally part of a marketing stunt for the sitcom ALF but kind of took off as their own thing...

SPIN. You SPIN the challenge coins for initiative tosses.

My gods, I can't even *imagine* someone literally flipping one of those - if they missed catching it and it hit a model on landing, that mini would be shattered!

Wow this is sad. I recommend go ogling military challenge coin tradition. It is about drinking. And such.

Again, my CAC coin, not the FFG one.

Evidently as old as I am...

Then again, I was a juvenile delinquent as a kid.

I do not know what a challenge coin even is, but I did get some of these big metal shield tokens.

They're pretty cool for determining initiative. Flip it into the air, then run and hide because it WILL come crashing down (and it's heavy!)

I think they're mostly for throwing at people. Or filling socks with before hitting people. You could maybe slip one into a glove too.

Mainly though, if someone does't fly casual, the alpha player and members of his coalition will encircle that player, bellow in an assertion of dominance, and then fling their coins at the offender until he is either dead or cowed into submission, accepting a subordinate place in the hierarchy.

If you move to a new town, you could also use your coins as part of a threat display in a bid for dominance, kind of like a stag's horns, to secure your place within or potentially take over a player group. Since women tend to be rather rare in the community, however, they probably won't be too useful for a mating display.

This so reminds me of Zoidberg's "erotic display".

My what?

Don't be shy. It is magnificent.

Basically I aim for this using my collection of Challenge Coins:

The shoulder strips should be built of range rulers from various store championships.

In a few years I totally imagine my self like this:

I so want the big silver one to be a System Open winner medal (and now, start practicing that look).

Ok don't tell anyone outside this thread, but the coins will grant you entrance to the super secret underground X-Wing night club in Minneapolis. Just flash your coin to the doorman and you're in.
