Vader and the Demolisher

By Sanguinary Dan, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

As I don't have the models for a Clon build I'm slightly ripping off MrTopHatJones' Vader build. It'll give me practice with Demolisher (more so than my first attempts) and Vader. I'm nervous about the lack of fighters, but Howlrunner and 2 TIEs isn't exactly weak. Fragile. But not weak.

With a 16 point bid I should gain First Player against 90% of opponents in my area. I think. But will my lack of strike fighters hurt me if I'm out bid?

My plan is to block my primary target with the Raiders and crush it with Demolisher. Then catch whatever is left between my survivors and Relentless. Vader's rerolls will be heavily used as I don't have OE on the Raiders and for the longer ranged fire of the ISD. This can leave me exposed as I'll be sitting on at least one expended defense token most turns.

As ever, any and all comments and criticism is welcomed.

As the lightly-plagiarized individual mentioned, I'm in favor.

Two things I'd look at:

You're spending points on OE even though you have Vader. A lot of the strength of the Vader build is saving the OE points to trade your useless (at close range) evade tokens.

Also, you have 32 points of squadrons that can't do too much of anything vs ships, not a lot of HP, and no dedicated carrier. That's why I opted to go for TIE Advanced; even without bomber, they have a 75% chance of doing damage instead of the 50% from a blue die (admittedly higher with Howlrunner). I ran a 4 ship demo list against (surprise) a 4 ship demo list last week and the TIE Advanced wiped the floor with the standard TIEs.
