When might we see the Resurgent Class aka the Finalizer?

By jarmus mrawn, in Star Wars: Armada

Yes I know I'm late with this but with the release of Wave 3 having only flotillas, and it not being a question of if but when (especially with Disney in charge of Star Wars merchandising), when do you guys think that we might see the Resurgent Class in Armada, whether it be one of the two item numbers that don't have a product to go with them yet or possibly in Wave 4 or in a wave after that. I leave you with guys with this question, when do you think we might see the Finalizer?

Also I forgot which book that recently came out but it has just been confirmed that the Resurgent Class is actually considered not a Star Destroyer but a battlecruiser so FFG may use this information and make the Resurgent Class the most powerful ship in the game unless they make a Super Star Destroyer (which will probably be made eventually too.)

I think we need more movies before we get Force Awakens era stuff for the simple fact that we have no Resistance/Republic stuff to go with it. Admittedly, the Resistance is still using a lot of the Rebel stuff (Home One, for example, is still rocking it). However, I think FFG needs some Resistance ships to really give a Force Awakens wave justice. That could be as early as the next movie, which would be wave 5 or 6.

Don't get me wrong, I want to Finalizer for sure. I also think it fits better into the game than a SSD. It's double the size of the ISD. That makes it a suitably "epic" ship without getting into the stupid proportions and power of the SSD.

From what I can gather here:

The First Order is still using Imperial star destroyers, and with that there could very well be upgraded Victory star destroyers in their ranks. The First Order is basically a fringe faction that set up in the unknown regions and has been building for 30 years. Now 30 years isn't exactly a whole lot of time when you're basically starting from scratch. First you need to find resources, then build an industrial base, and then start designing/building a fleet...so Resurgent star destroyers would actually be uncommon to see with First Order ships, barring flagships. The only reason the Empire had all ISD 1's and 2's was because they had a massive established industrial base, and ship contractors lining up to do business, something the First Order doesn't have outright.

So you're gonna see the older ships (upgraded of course) and I do believe they use Nebulon K's as well.

The Resistance will obviously be working with Rebellion era ships, Home One for sure but upgraded to keep it combat capable. Later model MC80's and maybe an MC85 (not cutting edge) or perhaps assault frigates. I recall the resistance were using tech that was good, just not cutting edge.

Now the New Republic Fleet, if it still exists will be cutting edge tech...

Yet hey...they could easily throw in the Resurgence and I'd have no issues running it next to my Venator.

Another thing that needs to be taken into consideration is that the Republics Fleet was mostly destroyed when the First Order fired Star Killer Base. Secondly, the New Republic had made a treaty that limited battle capable fleets so they might not have had much to begin with anyways.

The Republic Senate didn't back Leia up at all with the resistance, so i doubt they would have any fancy toys. But that may change after an entire system was blown away in a matter of seconds, One planet being the New Republics, new capital. So in future movies we may see a newly militarized Republic rise from the ashes in an attempt to end the imperialist once and for all!

(starts crying in fear) We Imperials still have something up our sleeve though! (I HOPE!)

The First Order had been hiding in the Unknown Regions of the Galaxy and could of been up to anything, they converted an entire planet into a weapon. The First Orders way of getting around the Treaty was their Resurgent Class Destroyers were outfitted with barracks and academies for training their Storm Troopers.

Didn't they have a capital that went from world to world? Also a single fleet protecting the capital is kinda...eh...I dunno...silly.

Even a stripped down galactic military force, wont put all of their eggs into one basket.

Besides even if we go with a total wipe out, there is the whole "Pegasus-factor" as in ships making the jump to hyperspace before the capital was destroyed...or simply being deployed elsewhere. If anything starkiller would cut off the head, and put the New Republic into chaos, much like the Empire when Palpi took a dive down the reactor shaft....and hit the Falcon's windshield.

If anything the New Republic will rally, and the Resistance will get brought into the fold, Ackbar will come back to the top, and Leia will step in...rubbish rubbish rubbish it's a trap Lando loves the ladies...the ninth movie will have that epic fleet engagement we've reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllly been looking for since the battle of courscant.

The Republic didn't believe that the First Order would have been a big threat, which is why Leia formed the Resistance in the first place. The resistance was a lot like the rebellion, but instead of opposing the Empire they fought to protect the republic from the first order, and were keeping tabs on the Order leading up to the events of The Force Awakens.

But as you noted there's two more movies still to come for the new trilogy, and with that we'll more then likely see new toys from the First Order, and maybe new republic ships? Maybe Leia commissioned some new ships in secrecy her self in fear that the First Order would make a move (Which they did). Who knows really. There's still quite a few years to go before we actually know what happens. Regardless I'm excited to see what other ships the First Order has. Maybe they'll have their own Dreadnought class destroyer, And the fighters they've developed, especially since i just got into X-Wing. I'm excited for the future of both games!

Actually the first order is the rebellion (against the new Republic) and the resistance a quasi governmental enforcement group....... from a certain point of view......

Hmmm I sense ISD and VSD 3's
