After tabling opponent...

By SmogLord, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

If you table an opponent does the game end immediately, or do you play out the rest of the round (I.E. If they have squadrons remaining do those squadrons get to finish the round and maybe earn some more points)?

This question is not in regard to Rieekan, I know he will change things.

Edit: One more related question. What happens if you table an opponent but they actually earned more points than you (via objectives). You still get the win but can you have a negative margin of victory?

1. No, it ends at the end of the current round. The player with at least 1 ship remaining wins the game. You get 400 pts. towards your MOV for tabling your opponent.

2. Well, if you table your opponent, you earn a win and get 400 pts. I'm not sure how feasible it is for your opponent to get more than 400 pts. (via ships/squadrons, or objectives) and still get tabled. But if it did happen, I think you still get a win with a MOV of 0, and thus your tournament points would be 5.

1. So if the round continues to the squadron phase it would be possible for both players to be tabled, right? If a remaining fighter were able to kill your last ship after you tabled your opponent, who is the victor?

2. I think it is possible in a really close game. For example, the winning player has only a corvette remaining and the losing player has earned more than the corvette's value in objective points. Unlikely, but possible.

All the rules are accounted for:

Page 13, RRG:

The game ends after six rounds.

The players determine their scores and the player with the highest score wins.

• If both players have the same score after six rounds, the second player wins the game.

• If all ships in a fleet are destroyed, ignoring squadrons, the game immediately ends. The player with one or more ships remaining in the play area is the winner.

• If the last remaining ships in both fleets are destroyed at the same time, the player with the highest score wi ns. If both players have the same score, the second player wins.

And from the Tournament Regulations:

End of Round

Each tournament round ends in one of the following ways:

• One Player Defeated : At the end of a game round, all of one player’s ships are destroyed. The player with at least one ship remaining earns a win and the opposing player receives a loss.

• Mutual Destruction : At the end of a game round, all of both players’ ships are destroyed. The player without initiative is the winner, but his or her Margin of Victory is 0.

In short. In the original Rules, the Game ended Immediately. Now, for tournament rules, it ends at End of Round (as that facilitates Rieekan actually working...)

So if its mutually destroyed (which is all ships, Squadrons don't count) - you don't tally MOV. Its just 0.

So even if you are winning on Objectives... Too bad.

So... in essence, its been errata'd so that now if you get tabled, you still finish the round, including squadrons. then the game ends eh?

Yes.

After tabling your opponent....

Change your name to SmugLord

The losing player outscoring the winning player just happened in the Galactic Civil War didn't it? Between CarribeanNinja and some nasty rebel scum (unless I'm just daft).

Yeah.

I actually played a game with that last night, too...

Lost both my MonCals, but I'd racked up 16 tokens to his 2.

He won because he still had a Raider on the field.
