Theory build - Chopper Biggs Wedge

By LagJanson, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Experiment (100)

"Chopper" (45) - VCX-100

Fire Control System (2), Autoblaster Turret (2), "Zeb" Orrelios (1), Hera Syndulla (1), Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

Biggs Darklighter (25) - X-Wing

Wedge Antilles (30) - X-Wing

R2 Astromech (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

Theory is simple. Close in with Chopper, go for blocks. Ram. If you miss by a bit smack things with the auto blaster. With Biggs and Wedge swoop in and unload. Biggs buys Wedge time. If the opponent goes for Chopper it allows Wedge more time to pick targets off.

Alpha strikes will murder this, I think. I think it has a chance against a lot of other lists though. I'm really tempted to try this out. Any other notes, improvements or flaws?

I would be tempted to to drop the APLs from Chopper. They only work when the enemy bump you, Chopper will normally be trying to bump them.

With the 2 extra points you can buy R4-D6 with IA on Biggs and upgrade Wedge's R2 into BB-8 for extra positioning shenanigans.

Agree that Biggs really wants an astromech + IA. An alternative to upgrading R2 to BB8 would be to put tactical jammers on the Ghost to help protect Biggs.

Got one IA and my budget doesn't have room for that third T70. I can move the IA to Biggs. Was wondering if it was better to put on Biggs or better to put on Wedge.

Meta round here still has higher pilot skills, but you are right. The average pilot skill has dropped. Last tournament had no Fel, very few small bases. I had considered dropping APLs myself.

Don't have tactical jammer but you better believe that crossed my mind.

Don't have R4-D6 either. Only other one point droids I would consider for Biggs are the R2 unit, which really is better described as a one point shield, and the R5 unit which might see rare situational use. Meh.

Thanks
