Aces with... Punisher

By Euph3m1sm, in X-Wing Squad Lists

This list came to me once the U-boats started to show themselves, any feedback would be great. One change I'm considering is to bring the the inquisitor for Valen.

I played one game with it & lost but it was very tight, two jumpmasters down to 1hp each so perhaps there is some potential.

TIE Punisher: Black Eight Squadron Pilot (23)

Extra Munitions (2)

Proton Torpedoes (4)

Proximity Mines (3)

Fire Control System (2)

Guidance Chips (0)

TIE Avanced Prototype: · Valen Rudor (22)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Adv. Homing Missiles (3)

Autothrusters (2)

TIE/v1 (1)

TIE Interceptor: · Soontir Fel (27)

Push The Limit (3)

Autothrusters (2)

Royal Guard TIE (0)

Stealth Device (3)

-- TOTAL ------- 98/100p. --

Thoughts for you, The Punisher is a great idea.

I feel like Soontir Fel is more squishy then Vader (Push the limit, Allows for Boost, move, Barrel Roll, Dodge. Also doings Advance Sen can give out an edge ), If your fighting U-boats it might be better to Change Val's Vet In to another upgrade as Pilot Skill 6 or 8 will not matter when your going against PS 3, I would tell you to use something that helps much more like Outman or Pred. Using the 1 extra point for 4 seismic charges makes a big different in damage over 2 prox mines, (also I might drop the chips for the Twin Ion upgrade for the punisher to help with much needed green moves with Plasma Torp being a better turn then Photon Torp) Here is more what I would give a try with.

Darth Vader — TIE Advanced 29 Push the Limit 3 Advanced Targeting Computer 1 Hull Upgrade 3 TIE/x1 0 Ship Total: 36

Valen Rudor — TIE Advanced Prototype 22 Outmaneuver 3 Proton Rockets 3 Autothrusters 2 TIE/v1 1 Ship Total: 31

Cutlass Squadron Pilot — TIE Punisher 21 Fire-Control System 2 Extra Munitions 2 Plasma Torpedoes 3 Seismic Charges 2 Seismic Charges 2 Guidance Chips 0 Ship Total: 32

i like the changes suggested here. i wonder if PTL on vader could be something else? predator or adaptability and add proton rockets? having ur own alpha strikes could be really nasty as punisher soaks up early dmg, dishes some of his own while vader and valen position for prockets.

So if you drop PTL and Add Prot Rocks it leaves you with 1 point. So here is the EPT that is left and why it would work.

Rage - amazing for your rocket shot, if you run Advance Sensors (which is none free clearing up 1 point for the bid) with Rage do the action get 2 stress then move and clear 1 stress, you will lose your 2nd action 1 turn)

Calculation - save your focus for adding damage always boost with the other action

Vet Inst - Not many ships can match PS11

Adapt - Frees the 2nd point when change ATC to another Sen there is 2 extra points outstanding for something else. Having a PS10 Vader is good.

Here is one other thought, Changing to Adapt and Accuracy Corrector, you can add two Tracers to the Punisher which is 4 rounds of giving out target locks.

Darth Vader — Adaptability, Proton Rockets, Accuracy Corrector, Hull Upgrade, TIE/x1 Ship Total: 35

Valen Rudor — Outmaneuver, Proton Rockets, Autothrusters, TIE/v1 Ship Total: 31

Cutlass Squadron Pilot — Fire-Control System, Extra Munitions, Plasma Torpedoes, XX-23 S-Thread Tracers, XX-23 S-Thread Tracers, Seismic Charges, Seismic Charges, Guidance Chips Ship Total: 34

With regards to the punisher i think LRS with homing missiles might be worth a shot. Use the systems for sensor jammer and they add some durability to their arsenal. But since i have not play tested any of them don't take my word as gospel.

Thanks for the feedback, gives me some ideas.

The Punisher is my favorite ship right now. I like your list, I would suggest Prockets over AHM. Rudor's ability makes it possible for him to unload his ordnance when your opponent would have otherwise think it impossible.

I have been thinking about using Accuracy Corrector over fire control. You can still roll dice with it, and with Guidance Chips you could really make cluster missiles rock.
