Trooper list.

By Rogue Dakotan, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I don't think I've ever played Empire in skirmish yet. This is mostly because my buddy had all my figures as he was painting some.

Well he had stuff come up and now I have my figures back, painted them myself, and now I want to show them off in a list.

I really want to use Elite Heavy Stormtroopers as I patined mine to look like the shock troopers from Battlefront.

Elite Heavy Stormtrooper
Targeting Computer
Elite Stormtrooper
Stormtrooper
Stormtrooper
Imperial Officer
Imperial Officer
Elite Imperial Officer
Rule by Fear

OR

Elite Heavy Stormtrooper
Elite Stormtrooper
Stormtrooper
Imperial Officer
Imperial Officer
Elite Imperial Officer
E-Web Engineer
The General's Ranks

I much prefer the first list, since I don't like using E Webs, but I also have those painted up so I figured I'd try a list with one as well. And General's Ranks might make them a bit more useful.

Hm if you would really want to use the eHeavys I would use the first list but replace Rule by fear with another Targeting computer for the second heavys.

I would say the first list. The reroll with the elite heavies is awesome, and the regular e-web is not that good. Also more stormtroopers is awesome.

He doesnt have a 2nd heavy in the first list. I think rule by fear works.

You're kind of crazy to not bring 2x eStorms to an imperial trooper list.

From my experience, eHeavy is not worth it compared to rHeavy. Sure, they're good, but they rarely get surges so you can't really count on the +2 or blast 2. Instead, you should be using them as slightly tanky, decent damage units. Regulars are also reinforceable, which is a nice benefit.

I don't think the eOfficer is worth it with just heavy troopers.

I think the best trooper lists are:

2x eStorms, eSnow, rHeavy + TC, 2x officer, Rule by Fear

2x eStorms, 2x eProbe, rHeavy + TC, 2x officer, RbF

2x eStorms, 2x rStorms, rHeavy + TC, officer, RbF

2x eStorms, rHeavy + TC, guards, 3x officer, RbF (you can play this list with -1 officer and eHeavy if you want)

All of these are really good and have slightly different strengths.

You can obviously tweak the formula however you want and it can be pretty good, though.

I've done rather well so far in tournaments with a variation not yet mentioned:

2x eStormtroopers

2x rStormtroopers

1x rRoyal Guards

1x rImperial Officer

No eHeavies, which the OP said he preferred, so probably not so useful to him.

I agree with the others though: if you really want Heavies, the way to go is rHeavies with Targeting Computer for 7. eHeavies, and rHeavies without TC, just aren't as good for the points.

Whats your command deck look like with that list Indy?

No real surprises with the command cards (well, except maybe Deadeye, which seems to be largely underrated). It's changed a bit over the few months since I started playing, but these days it's:

Grenadier

Reinforcements x2

Squad Swarm

Strength in Numbers

Change of Plans

Provoke

Negation

Focus

Rank and File

Fleet Footed

Urgency

Element of Surprise

Take Initiative

Deadeye

I only own like 8 out of 19 AV packs, with no intentions of buying more until Bespin, so there's probably one or two cards missing there that I might have included if I owned them. (For example, replacing Focus or Rank and File with Jump Jets.) But for the most part, this is the list I'd use even if I owned two of everything.

Strong list, i like it, thanks for posting.

Not a huge fan on Heavies personally (which I've posted about at length before). I'd take an elite E-Web over Elite Heavies any day.... regular ones can fit a bit easier but for 1 more point (since they really need TC) I'd still go an elite E-Web.

As for trooper lists in general... It's very hard to go past two units of elites. So strong, so versatile, so many hit points and lots to reinforce.
I've usually run with RGC in the past but you can use more eProbes, more officers, Royal Guard and Heavies instead.

Once I moved from regular stormtroppers to elite ones, I don't see any reason to go back... They do nothing better, and if you want something to it on objectives you may as well ally in some Hired guns or just use officers.
