We are currently playing the intermezzo and now setting up encounter 2.

We know that the OL keeps his hand and discard pile. But what happens to ingame cards?

He buffed a goblin group with that dragonamulett card. Now we are confused if it stays ingame (since he chose goblins for encounter 2 as well).

Rules mention only hand cards...

Look at the rules for overlord cards in the Manor of ravens rulebook- the cards in play at the end of an encounter get discarded.
