Happy Friday

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

We made it, I hope that everyone has an outstanding Friday, a great weekend, and gets some games in.

I hope each of us can do our part to be excellent to each other as we comment, and I hope we can be welcoming to the fresh new peoples that are coming to X-wing everyday.

Happy Friday! I have plans to play some X wing at my FLGS on Saturday! I hope you have a great weekend!

You know what, cubanboy, you don't get enough (or sometimes any) credit for these posts, but thank you. After a long week of work and school, plus chaos and some drama here on the forums (which may happen from time to time), it's great and refreshing to see your enthusiasm every single week, without fail.

Thank you, and don't ever change.

Thanks friend. I heard an amazing podcast series called Whatever it takes and Coach Wooden was the topic and it was super inspiring I would tell you to give it a listen to it put a lot of things this week in prospective.

I agree with FatherTurin, thanks for these posts, Cubanboy! I do look forward to them every Friday morning. I'll even go to Page 2 to find it!

Last night was awesome night for X-wing. Things had been slowing down a bit with fewer people lately. Oh, still around 10 or so, but not more. Well, one guy showed up for the first time since January. He was busy with work, school, and being sick. I was happy to play a game with him. Two other guys showed up and it turns out they have been making a YouTube podcast in their apartment instead of coming to the game store. It's called SlingPaint Gaming, and they even got a Twitter shout out from Greg Grunberg, who plays Snap Wexley in TFA. They have 1800 followers or so now from around the world and I was happy for them. They even stated they would give my new podcast a shout out once we are up and running.

Last was some bitter sweet news. When I restarted the X-wing scene in my local area, it was with one other guy and I. The two of us started it all. He's got a 1 year old in the house and I haven't seen him in months. Months! I think it was December as the last time I saw him. He came in to the shop to say hi, but it turns out he sold his X-wing stuff. He bought a new Harley Davidson, but sold all his X-wing to buy new pipes for it (to make it louder). I was happy to see him and glad that he said he would try to make it in to play some games. He knows he can borrow any of my stuff. I was sad that he sold his stuff. I was sad that he bought a Harley (as they are over priced and over hyped). I was sad that he took off his ultra quiet pipes to put on ultra loud ones (as I hate loud Harleys). So, that was bittersweet. Still, was happy to at least see him.

We also suckered a 20-something couple that wandered to the back of the store to oogle our minis into playing a demo game. I told them we are there every Thursday and they can always borrow ships. Maybe got a new player or two?

I got to fly Mission 1 last night 3 times and it was a blast. Very fun to play the game a little different. I got to use my Tie Punisher last night and it was the ship of the night. It won me all 3 of the games.

It was a good night....

theres a page 2? sarcasm obviously

this weekend i get to go on my first legal to drink cruise. With my fiancee, and her family. Drink package included, no tiny plastic ships, but plenty of tiny wooden umbrellas. TIME TO GET SCHWASTED

Last week I pledged to Friday Better. Goal reached.

Happy Friday to you and everyone as well :)

Sometimes it's funny (ironic) see you're posts. I do like them so.

Long before I read your Friday posts we had a conversation at work about good days, bad days and Mondays. I said that Monday was the best day of the week and people would look at me oddly. I'd explain that for some the weekend is over and they are done; but for me it is the beginning of something to look forward to. The start of something new. If you really like weekends then you have the weekend to look forward to and you're getting closer every day. Otherwise you're starting fresh, anew. For my wife it's another episode of Survivor. Oh well... ^_^

We went on to talk about how some days are just better than others. But I always thought a day was much like any other. Most any day someone will cut me off in traffic. Most work days I'll get something unexpected that will cause me to rearrange my work load. Even my weekend plans can change on a moment because of people or events I hadn't planned on, sigh... Some days are sunny, some cloudy and others rainy (when I'm home with no where to go I like rainy days).

So this is my normal week and it does seem that one day, as days go, are much like the rest. What we do with those days is what makes me feel better or worse. Not the day itself or the rain or even the people I meet; nothing more really than simply how I feel about the day.

So I guess everyday is a good day and what I do with that can make it better, or not I suppose. Up to you us.

'I wish it need not have happened in my time,' said Frodo. 'So do I,' said Gandalf, 'and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.'

I've seen those YouTube videos, those two guys look like a lot of fun to play with.

Off topic for happy friday, sorta, Heychadwick, guess what. As it may seem a Mission only thing might happen one day, just as a PDF, as it just happened for Armada https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/4/22/take-the-station/

They totally should get a licence for the Heroes campaign, I am sure it will come super cheap and is nearly ready for print already. Little work, huge potential.
