Replay of Doobleg vs Zanos.

It will get a bit janky around the end of turn 4 - we had a synchronising issue, hope it's still watchable. :)

I shall claim Tatooine!

It's horrifying. don't watch it....

I can't get in either, it's locked.

I assumed he was honouring your request, 'It's horrifying. don't watch it....' :)

First time I've used that drive thing, so anything is possible. I will look into it.

Well. . . it is a good list. . . I hope it was a horrifying battle.

Skycake vs Matt-Shadowlord

Skycake's genuinely unique fleet saw his energizer bunny Gladiators (3 projection experts and Tarkin tokens) replenish the Imperial Star Destroyer with around a dozen shields, but it was not enough.

A bold hyperspace assault by Yavaris took the imperials by surprise by warping into the front arc of the ISD, leading to all manner of carnage and a damage-spike sufficient to overcome the healing efforts of 3 Projection Experts.

Vlogs below, but here's a previw of the Yavaris' THIS IS SPARTA moment.

I would like any sector still available.

For those that watch this, when you get to the point of my prediction, could you see if there were anyother options at that point that I missed?

Thanks for posting it. Good game!

@Lyreas I watched the replay with your request in mind. Clearly your 3 main problems were:

  1. You lost initiative by 1 point. At 373 points! This is a mad world.
  2. You faced the Clonisher style Demolisher
  3. CarribeanNinja flew really well. He's good and took advantage of his fleet's superiority in this matchup.

Those are the main reasons, and sometimes thats just the way it goes.

Regarding suggestions, I very highly recommend you drop Precision Strike for Opening Salvo (Long range APTs! Ridiculous TRC+Intel Damage).

I definitely prefer your style of angled deployment to the usual Napoleonic line up, but in this case it seemed a little too tight. I also prefer setting up with more consistent angles so I can better predict my own fleet's moves but if this works for you that's great.

The obstacle placement of 3 in corners and 3 near your side of the table definitely favoured CN, and even more so when you chose the direction towards the obstacles (your left) instead of free space (right). Maybe that was to make the demo's job harder, but I've personally found with Demo stacking ET and Nav orders it's usually more worthwhile to give yourself space than to try clog it up; it's just too manouverable to easily trip.

I'd have gone with a tight central obstacle deployment to try slow the enemy reinforcements as they cross the map (not really hoping for collissions, raiders with nav are also too nimble, but it can help to have at least one arrive late). YMMV.

Playing vs Demo with MC30s, I tend to try be a little more aggressive, specifically on the turn where the Demo is going to double tap I want to have an MC30 in place ready to hit an enemy ship. You know you're going to lose a ship, but it can sometimes be turned into a trade especially with little ones like Raiders. This isn't necessarily a good plan, it's making the most of a bad situation. :D

But that's just feedback because you requested it - in reality, your problems in this game were less to do with you and a lot more to do with a quality opponent with a great fleet beating you with a crazy bid :D

The feedback was more along the lines if my chat predictions were true.

This was not DtO3.0 so he had me beat by more than 1 point. It was 13 points. Dto3.0 actually removes precision strike and was made in early May after this tournament started. I had to still use this list though even though I hadn't played this exact fleet in a month. That is fine since I know it well. OH, and I will not use opening salvo. It sounds fine but I done want to give up points to an opponent. I may test it in the future but I dont like the idea of not being able to ram just because it would close my margin of victory.

I build the list to win the game and the objectives to win the tournament.

My trap did not work and I messed up on the setup by a small margin. That caused the MC30 to ram on turn 1. That left my trap vulnerable and allowed Demo to ET and then escape.

Maybe when you can actually do a successful triple tap on a real table we will consider it.
