Pick my Regionals list.

I've updated the post for what might be the last time--especially since it would take a lot of votes between now and 1pm Central to change the collective opinion.

For those who don't want to click through to the first page, here's what the consensus looks like:

The Manaroo list is clearly out, at least for play this Saturday. That's a shame, because I think it looks like a lot of fun, but (1) I've never flown it before, and (2) I don't think it has a clear answer for what it does against high-PS arc-dodgers with Autothrusters.

It's a much closer call between the Palpatine Aces list and the Lothal/Nera/Stressbot list, with the Emperor ahead by just two votes. He could have accomplished that by clouding the judgment of just a few people, though, so it's safest to consider the two lists tied. If I were choosing between them, I think I'd go with the Rebel list: it has fewer effects to keep track of, and a lot more margin for error, which means it'll be a stronger list in Rounds 4-5 when I'm hungry, tired, and cranky.

The clear winner, though, is Dash/Lothal Rebel. The people voting for it, either as their first choice or their second choice, had a strong tendency to pair it with the Palp Aces list, which leads me to believe it's the vote of "competitive" players. It also looks a lot like some lists that have already made Top 8 at various Regionals: Dash/VCX-100 has two Top 8 finishes (Dash/Lothal Rebel in Munich and Dash/Chopper in the Atlanta area).

So it seems like the archetype has its competitive feet under it. Additionally, Dash/Lothal Rebel was either the first or second choice of over 60% of respondents, making it the majority choice under an instant-runoff system.

I may vary the loadout slightly, however. As posted, the list looks like this:

Lothal Rebel (35)
Fire-Control System (2)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
Hera Syndulla (1)
Han Solo (2)

Dash Rendar (36)
Push the Limit (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Kanan Jarrus (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Outrider (5)

Total: 100

But it's straightforward to replace Kanan with Kyle as Dash's co-pilot, and I'm leaning toward doing so: Kyle's green maneuvers are still pretty good in combination with boost+barrel roll, and effectively getting an extra action per turn is probably worth the restriction.

I don't think it is quite worth it. Clearing the stress with the 1 turn is AMAZING.

And against the aces, you do need an open dial.

I'm probably 95% for making that tournment. Maybe I'll see you there.

It would be great to meet you in person! I'll be the moderately overweight bearded guy wearing the geeky T-shirt...

Good luck.

Cheers

I wish I'd seen this thread in time to vote. I really liked the Scum list, and it looks like my rank-order of the lists would have been in reverse order of the votes they received. I agree the top two are most competitive, but I like the flavour of the others more. I hope it's going well for you today, and that we'll get to see a report of your exploits!

Hi Vorpal, I strongly recommend Kanan. He gives Dash a muchhhh better chance against Soontir and Co. 16 effective greens is very very nice for Dash. 3 bank and boost, hard 1 and back-barrel roll (putting the Outrider in reverse!): things like this mean that predicting Dash gets disturbingly close to just getting lucky.

It's super broken. The Super Dash squad is your best bet.

I think its even more disgusting when you take both. Revive the old Jan Ors/Dash list, put Kanan on Jan and be disgustingly mobile with added action economy, accurate TLT pings and the occasional out of arc 5 dice with focus and TL. Come to think of it, maybe I should have suggested you this list, Vorpal: http://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Rebel%20Alliance&d=v4!s!48:57,135,159:3:-1:;95:18,23,-1,74:14:3:&sn=Disgusting%3F

Half tempted to try it out myself, but I think the easy wins won't be very statisfying knowing my TIE Bombers are more than viable now.

I changed it up a little bit on the ride out to Kansas City, dropping Han to upgrade to Chopper. Briefly, I got stomped yesterday. My record was just 2-4, with an MOV in the low 500s. I lost to a U-boat/BumpMaster/Trandoshan Slaver list, a Han/Miranda list, a near-mirror Dash/Lothal Rebel, and an ordnance-focused Tel Trevura/Kavil/Ka'ato.

I made a couple of major flying mistakes, but the biggest problem all day was dice. At one point, across two games I rolled 14 blank green dice in a row. Against Han/Miranda, I managed to miss Miranda with Dash's HLC twice (and died without doing any damage with him).

Nevertheless, I'm not sure a two-ship list is actually a great bet in this metagame--at least, the metagame I saw at this event. JumpMasters were all over the place, although very few lists (just two or three out of 86 players) were running triples. I think the second-choice list, according to the survey, would have been more successful in almost every matchup: stressbot is a really hard tool to replace, and Dash usually didn't last long enough to out-damage Nera+Stressbot.

So, lesson learned! Unfortunately I probably won't be able to make it to another Regionals, but maybe someone else can use it to their advantage.

EDIT: I should say--JumpMasters and Ghosts were all over the place. Of the Rebel lists there, I think between half and two-thirds included at least one Ghost.
