Future Commander Candidates

By Saryn, in Star Wars: Armada

I am honestly hoping for a squadron movement buff ffrom Madine.

Crix Madine: the listed speed of all friendly squadrons is increased by 1 to a maximum of 5.

Covers the movement slot like Ozzel, but with a different angle.

Rebel squadron lists for days.

Considering that the only Token-Recovery Mechanic was in the Rebels (Walex Blissex)... I really, really didn't see Tagge coming for the Imperials.

But he's going to make me play Imperials again.

Its just like that.

So, you know what, bring on almost any mechanic for this Rebel Commander...

I mean, i've got a $ bet it on being Madine, but, I really don't care who it is, as long as the Mechanic is something different again...

Speed 3 B-wings.

Yeeeeaaaaahhhh.... :D

Pretty awful fleet commander. Lost her SSD to a force that wasnt a fraction as strong.

Same could be said of the Commander of the Fleet at Endor... Y'know.

My idea for Calrissian (in squad and commander form)...

The thing is, (I was doing a bit of averaging today using some dice and testing for all the squads that this card would help) it kinda makes the Falcon (Solo or Lando) into a bit of an anti-ship beast. :)

But otherwise I think it may be ok. (Although with Toryn Farr it may be very heavy-hitting.)

Edit. I constantly need reminding that "a" works on itself too :/

Dude that Lando Commander would be sooooo broken. Imagine X-Wings with Flight Controllers? Or a Yavaris + X-Wing combo? Your eating ALOT of blue dice....

the IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy) didn't finish the Yamato (their ultimate battleship) until the US Navy was almost at their door.

The IJN was effectively blockaded due to USN air patrols of the Japanese coast. There was simply no alternative. Any ships leaving the major Japanese ports would be intercepted.

With no support, the IJN had the Yamato steam full power out of the harbor with no air cover. It was an act of desperation, and of courage. If the Yamato could join the remaining naval forces, the Yamato would be one of the most powerful non-nuclear warships ever to sail in a modern navy.

The Yamato was lost with all crew.

Similarly, the Lusankya was forced to take off in hostile territory, retreat to a safe location, and ultimately surrendered because it had insufficient crew to safeguard it once New Republic forces boarded and took the command bridge. Even if it had fought, the commander had valid reason to believe that the entire forward half of of an eight kilometer battleship would be lost and rendered dead weight or worse.

The Lusankya suffered the results of a Phyrric Victory. No commander could have reasonably recovered it without a major planetary-scale invasion to neutralize all potential threats prior to engagement.

Willard and Drayson is missing ;)

Actually Yamato was commissioned a week after Pearl Habor in 1941, so there was plenty of oppotunities for her to be in action during the Pacific war.

She could have played a significant role in the various naval surface battles around Guadalcanal, but the Japaneese Naval command withheld her for the decisive naval battle, not realizing that the struggle for Guadalcanal was one of the decisive naval battles in the last half of 1942.

Lusankya was under no threat of boarding when she surrendered. Her captain lost his mind mid battle then refused an order to retreat and when the battle was lost he decided to ram a nearby planet, promoting himself to Grand Admiral in the process, rather then surrender before being stunned or killed by one of his officers who was willing to surrender.

Back on topic I could see Luke, Han, and Wedge being fleet commanders since this is a Legends game and they all commanded fleets in the Legends novels. I'm not sure if Lando ever commanded a full fleet in the Legends setting but I would not be surprised if he had..

Juno Eclipse for the Rebellion. She may be Imperial in X-Wing but in The Force Unleashed, she switched sides. In the Force Unleashed II, she was commanding the Rebel Fleet, using Salvation as her flagship. At the very least she should be an officer upgrade.

They could also pull Commander Sato from Rebels, especially since we have Agent Kallus. I'm so glad FFG has pulled characters and ships from the original trilogy, legends and new canon. They aren't limiting themselves.

Sato looks cool. And has a role to play.
