Field Commander and Allies

By Lunewolf72, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

A question came up in my game session last night and I wasn't sure how to handle it. I've searched the boards, but couldn't find where it was addressed. If it has been, I apologize.

A Mercenary Soldier was using the Improved Field Commander talent to help the group run away from a Rancor. He used it successfully and had enough Presence to affect all of his "allies" with some to spare. The question was raised on whether the talent could be used on himself (i.e. is he an ally). The argument was made that it would seem rather silly if he were commanding the others to run while he stayed behind (to be eaten).

That also raised the question of whether the action generated by the Triumph could be used by the acting player.

No, and no.

In regards to your example, if the decision has been made to run, then chase rules kick in and normal maneuver/movement rules no longer apply.

The Talent is meant to be used to allow greater mobility within a tactical encounter they've chosen to fight.
