Source for that? Can you provide numbers to back up that claim? How many people have you canvassed? Sample size? Because "you" certainly does not not equal "as many people as love it".

For example, I personally do not have any interest in the Ghost. I've never watched Rebels, I think it's an ugly ship and I think the Phantom's sticky-out nose guns look like Q-Tips.

That doesn't make the Ghost "polarizing", however; it just means that I personally don't particularly like it.

The post that ninjaed you and the likes on my posts indicate that I am hardly alone in this viewpoint.

Missile Boat - an imperial ship with SLAM, but less loved than the Gunboat.

Sun Crusher - WTF?!? This is one of the reason I don't lament the purge of the old canon.

The Scout could be interesting as an Imperial equivalent to the HWK, Empire is pretty light on support ships compared to Rebels and Scum, but the shuttle title for bombers does cut in to their potential role a good bit. The Avenger and the Advanced are interesting because they do technically share a name and are part of the same line... But it's like with cars, the Advanced is like the 69 Mustang while the Avenger is the 04 model. But the most obvious top tier pilot for the Avenger is already in use for the Advanced and is getting another release for the Defender soon so that is a point against it.

Interesting take but I'd go with boost over evade to better separate it from the Advanced and the Defender. Also PS6 is not a top tier pilot, particularly for a dodgy ship.

For a dial I would go:

S1: red turns, green banks

S2: white turns, green banks, green straight

S3: white turns, white banks, green straight, red K

S4: green straight

S5: white straight, red K

Also... Maybe add a crew to the upgrade bar... Some ships in the TIE ADV project had them so it's not that much of a stretch and serves to make it stand out better.

You are correct that polarizing is something that people either love or hate.

The gunboat is not that thing. You are at one pole. But there are a ton of people in between. There are a ton of people that are more like "Well, it would be cool if it is there, but it won't ruin my life if it wasn't".

So no, the gunboat isn't polarizing.

As far as the Avenger, I'm not sure why people think it's so hard to fit into the game. There are so many ways to differentiate ships.

The E-Wing is 3323.

The T70 is 3233

The X-Wing is 3232

These fighters literally differ by 0-1 points in total stat values and individual stat values. But they are all differentiated by their maneuver dials, upgrades, and point costs.

Given how close those three ships are, I can't imagine why people would find it hard to fit the Avenger into an Imperial Meta for shielded "top tier" TIEs where there is

Defender 3333

Advanced 2332

TAP: 2322

For example, could make it 3332 and give it a different dial. Maybe give it F, TL, Evade, BR plus missiles or torpedoes. Then it's different from all of those ships, but no less different than the E, T70, and X.

There's really no "good" excuse for not having the Avenger in the game. That doesn't mean there's any compelling reason to include it (though I am in favor) either. But anybody who says "Where would the TIE Avenger fit into the meta?" apparently has confusion about how this game's meta actually works, lol.

I've said my thoughts on the Gunboat on at least a dozen threads now, to the point that it's even being called out ahead of time, which itself is pretty funny.

Should be in game eventually, so should Avenger.

So should skipray

So should escort shuttle.

Avenger? Sure. But I think a bit of care about it's inclusion is needed. It's kindof in the sweet spot between the defender and the other advanced models.... It could quite easily push several imperial fighters out of contention if it's not done just right.

Gunboat? I'd love to see it, but I worry that it'll give the imperials something that they shouldn't really have (from a game design perspective).

Giving the imperials a nice tanky jouster with ordnance capability at a reasonable price might do quite bad things to inter-faction balance.

The skipray I'd be interested in seeing.

I'd run it as a big small base ship; in the same ball park as the punisher, k-wing, and mist hunter.

Maybe 2 attack (pwt), 1 agility, 6 hull, 3 shields. Focus and TL on the bar.

System upgrade, cannon, 2 crew 1 missile.

dial like the mist hunter, just take away the hard 1's and one (maybe both) of the k-turns.

and I'd make sure to include a crew upgrade that allows the firing of a pwt as a follow-on to a secondary weapon attack.

Skipray Blastboat is such an 80's name. (Heir to the Empire came out in 1991 but that's still the 80's)

It needs to be neon pink with neon green triangles randomly scattered on the fuselage. Come with a new EPT called "Radical Additude" and use a new "Extreeeeeeme Slam" action.

Agree, boost would make the Avenger different. About the PS, FFG made Dengar a PS9 (a guy who was never know by his piloting skill): they can make any other real ace a PS8.

This is true and there is always the anonymous call signs route with Empire.

How large is the skipray though? Wouldn't it be Misthunter sized? To my knowledge the only time we actually see them rather then just hearing them described is in EaW

Its a bit clunky but thats what you expect from a recon ship. Its still miles better then the non TIE suggestions for Empire.
