April 30th Regional - Wixom, MI

By Cervidal, in X-Wing Organized Play

Howdy all! Apologies for this not being up sooner.

Two links you can follow along with on this event -

Our site's event page can be found here:

http://flatlandgamestore.com/event/x-wing-regional-championship/

In that page is also our Facebook event page where various event discussion takes place.

There is no cap on this event; I would love to crush an attendance record for this one. I have physical seating already arranged for 166, with a third table rental company on standby for the day.

Is 9 AM the game start time or registration time? When do doors open for registration?

That is the start time. Doors will be open at 7:30 AM for registration.

We're also allowing people to come in and register the night before. Our posted hours are 10 PM, but in reality we're usually open until midnight on Fridays.

We are not taking pre-registration before the 29th.

As though you needed more motivation to show up on Saturday, I have two different vendors coming on site to make sure food is not only easy, but one of the highlights:

Give us a shout out here if you're coming out!

We have about fifty parking spots to use - we'll have a staff member outside directing parking throughout the morning.

If we fill up on spaces, patrons will be directed to park at the Menard's across the street.

Please DO NOT park at either of our neighboring businesses; both are open for the day and have requested that we not fill up their parking lots with tournament attenders.

Great tournament today! So glad that you were selected for a regional this year and I hope it becomes an annual event!

For those asking, I'll have a link to scanned in top 16 on Monday evening, along with final standings.

Thank you to everyone who came out. Especially big thank you to those who didn't razz me too hard for dozing off mid-round 3 while waiting for the next TO call.

Thanks for running a smooth event. I loved having all the food brought in, it helped make it the best out of the 6 regionals I've attended.

Yep besides absolutely breaking ffgs tournament rules and letting judges play in the event, and the lead judge not knowing the rules. Yeah it was a good event.

I would like to note that none of the 'judges' in question were official tournament staff. They were consulted throughout the day if I didn't feel I had a clear ruling to make based on available information. At no point did anyone other than myself make an official judgment call.

Had a great time, food was great players were great. Conflicts were resolved as far as me with great understanding and accuracy. Hope they get the regionals again next year.

I had a great time, I would have no problem going back.

Final standings prior to cut, along with top 16 lists, are now up on our site.

I goofed and didn't grab the sheet from home that had the actual top 16 bracket. I'll try to get that posted up when I am next at the shop.

For any and all looking for the redone tokens, 2 options -

- You come up to the store, we'll check your ID, check your name off against the end of event list

- Send me a PM with your name and address and we'll mail them out to you.

In either case, we MUST receive your original tokens before we can give you the new ones per FFG. If you go the mail route, you must mail us your tokens first.

I am alexander yuen, one of the top 4. Here what i took away from this region.

Regional set up that demand by ffg is way too long. I wasnt even sure how i was standing at my last game. At that point i was just way too tired to care. But nothing we can do about that so move on.

Luke C guy on the ffg fourm. He bare the responsibility to have faq and all this ruling material with him. I guess i am use to civil legal system where it is the responsibility of the lawyers to bring evidence and expedition to the judge and not base on what the judge knows. Judge only applies what is in front of him. So i lay most of the blame in this case on the player not the TO. Btw i also using TLT w tactician as you all can see from my list. That same question came up during my games at this regional several times also. Judge was never called.

Personally, I like store to spend less or no amount on door prize. Anyone going to regional already got all the toys they wanted so getting a raider is kind of pointless. I much rather the money spend on food, drink or things that help the event be more enjoyable rather than some more toys.

I did enjoy myself. I dont see changing location for this regional however, I was just in luck this year to given the chance to attend. Hope my luck for next regional be the same. I sure love to make it again.

1) Wrong post to call me out in

2) Your point is taken, I should carry every piece of rules and have them in front of me. From now on I will assume the judge doesn't know anything about this game and go from there. Although to be fair, most players that I know do not carry a copy of the FAQ with them to tournaments. Good on you for doing so.
