Play X-Wing Online (Not Vassal)

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

K4's work fine - read the instructions; you choose by clicking on a different ship .

I get token-spam on Chrome, though. Overall, a monumental achievement, though one that probably needs to have a few of its disclaimers tightened up.

My bad, I misread the console. I didn't play with them but thought the Uboats were messed up because they seemed pretty easy.

I play through Chrome on a Chromebook and have no token issues. I have had it do some weird stuff on occasion but overall it is working pretty good.

Especially good for my son to play, he loves the sound effects and such (he is 7).

It's beautiful .. Good catch Boba Rick!

I'm still trying to find a way to play people online as opposed to hotseating it.

Wouldn't it be beautiful if it could talk to tablets/mobile devices over the wifi .. kinda like Youtube. Players could use the same large screen but plan moves, store lists, etc. on their devices.

Regardless, it's easiest the best online resources for practicing/playing.

Hmmmmmm.... I wonder if a program that allows you share your screen would work using hotseat. Anyone know of a program like that?

I've spent many an hour there. I dig it.

And I'm with the folks who just can't quite grok Vassal. It's user interface is always JUST bad enough to keep me away. I'm sure it works great, I watch videos of folks playing it...but it looks like just a little too much work for me to want to handle the learning curve.

I couldn't figure out how to fire more than 1 ship every combat. what was i missing?

Thanks. Now I've gotten no sleep tonight.

Very nice. I'll have to look more closely later, but a couple of quick games were pretty cool.

Silly question this may be, but how "safe" is this program?

I know it's web based, but I am at work behind a lot of security and firewalls, but want to play this on my breaks. You think this will get flagged or anything for being intrusive, or is it *completely* web based?

thanks.

This definitely excels on a computer and not a tablet.

I tried to play on my ipad and phone. Not a great experience. PC on the other hand ....

Computer rolls WAY too many evades. I've never seen so many 3 and 4 evade rolls. That being said, it's a fun way to practice flying and try out new squads.

I second this statement. I think the algorithm needs to be examined. 3 turns in a row an IG88 getting 4 evades rolled on 4 dice... Religiously...

I think there is a problem with the RNG

Maybe check his dice? Ask him to open a fresh pack?

I don't know if you guys noticed this but you can change any of the dice before you hit fire. I did it by accident but click on the dice image. It's not fixing it but if you just want to see how it plays out you can cheat your ass off. I do this often times when I want to see a ships durability. Did I just get caught in an unlucky shot or did I need to cheat for 5 rounds to survive? Good first attempt though and I love testing new wings to get a feel for how they fly together. Wish it had dice animation, it's a little jarring to have stuff just happen, but for a free graphical web ap with minimal learning curve if you know how to play it's amazing.

I managed to play a couple games on my phone, but its definitely not a good experience there. I thought it worked great on the ipad though. Didnt have any issues

Yeah just did DDD verses brobots I saw five sets of triple evades rolled definitely needs addressing.

Still it's good for what it is I couldn't do any better.

I've played about 10 games, yet to see any ordnance from the AI.

Regardless, it's a free program that let's us play one of our favourite games against a friend or solo. I have the utmost respect and appreciation for the developer(s) as this is certainly something I couldn't do myself. With future releases, it's only going to get better (unless it gets removed by The Mouse / FFG). I'm excited!

A huge thank you to the developer(s)!!!!!

I've seen Uboats offload a torp every so often.

Jax at range 1 sends the AI haywire.

Same with complicated lists. The best lists the AI can fly are: BBBBZ, Tie Swarms and Thug Life.

I had A-Wings use them on me.

I love how the games are fast!

Cool! I've yet to see any ordnance.

Couple of bugs (like it doesn't remove the extra dice on stealth device when you've been hit - but you can correct this yourself as you can click on the dice to change the results so just choose the first or last dice and always turn it to a blank), but it's definitely a fun game to play and will waste many an hour of my life I have no doubt!

I noticed the dice problem after a game or two as well, and as said previously, you can change all of the dice manually. I took to using the official dice app for my rolls and just changed them manually in game. Not as fast but 'feels' more accurate

not working for any of my browsers (chrome, firefox or safari) :(

AI die rolls can seem better than they are if you're not paying close attention because it automatically applies focus, autothrusters, and evade tokens before the result pops up. Brobots getting "4 evades" could just be rolling evade focus focus blank.

a few things: why do all focus icons stay on the table from previous turns? can i turn that off? also, it seems as if i can just keep pressing the green die and eventually they will end up arrows. what is going on?

Teamviewer would take care of that, it's free for non-commercial use.

The only problem is you see your opponent setting his dials and you see those selections next to ships
