So, while we’re talking about parentage here, I want to go back to a trailer that was done before TFA came out, where Luke was heard to be saying something like:

The Force runs strong in my family.

My father had it.

I have it.

My Sister has it.

And now you have it.

So, who do you think he was talking to? Rey would be the obvious choice, but maybe not the right one.

Perhaps he was talking to Ben, before the Knights of Ren destroyed the New Jedi Academy? We already know they’re related, so that’s a possibility.

Poe is said to be the best pilot in the Resistance(?), maybe even the galaxy. So, maybe Luke was talking to him?

That was the Teaser 'soundbite'... maybe it was part of a flashback for Rey, that didn't make the final cut - even to the out-take extras on the DVD/BluRay.

It could be Luke talking to Rey, but not specifically as a blood relative, just the fact that The Force also runs strong in her family.

I can see where you're coming from that Luke was talking to Ben due to the blood relation.... don't reckon he was talking to Poe though.

Gahhh. He was talking to Leia because those weren't new recorded lines. They were the lines from Jedi, just slightly out of order. I went back one day and verified it with the trailer and the clip from Jedi. The last line in the trailer is actually the first line from Jedi:

Well... I haven't watched the OT for ages *sidewards glance*. Honest!

Interesting story: Hamill recorded the lines a second time. They used the original clip from RotJ in the trailer, and used the new recording for the echo/reverb.

It was a monologue designed to market TFA. He is speaking to the audience.

Everyone knows Rey is the secret love child of Yoda and the Emperor....
