Ok, so I am new to Descent. I just picked up Forgotten Souls so i can play solo. My first game, and I ran into this situation and had a question.Playing 3 heros,m y last action with my last hero was to open a door (explore). Directions say to draw an exploration card, then setup the new area, etc. Question is, do I perform the Overlord Phases next? Or, does it "reset" when you move into a new area?
Forgotten Souls question - Exploration/Turn order
Ok cool. I stepped into a room full of flesh molders and they immediately started thrashing on my cleric.
It can get even worse than this. A lot of exploration cards state after setup of the room that the monsters in the room activate immediately. If the door opening occurs as the last action of the heroes' turn for one of those rooms, then the monsters will get to activate twice in a row before the heroes can do anything.
This can often result in dead heroes.
Whenever possible try to open a door as one of the first things the heroes do on their turn, even if it might mean drawing a Fate card.
Edited by CharmyIf I could like that twice, I would. I have been saved numerous times by waiting to open a door until I can do it with my first hero. Sometimes, it's because a ticking clock would have started too early (a fate is much preferable to a doom.) Sometimes, it's because the room is one which prevents damage and fatigue recovery (resting is very important). Sometimes, it's for the reason Charmy said- so the monsters don't get a double activation to rough up whoever was stupid enough to open the door.
Yeah, probably should have done that. The only downside of waiting would have been to wake up a master barghest, but they aren't that bad. Now my knight and cleric are hanging on by a thread....too much fun!

And this is why despite everyone singing the praises of the Treasure Hunter (a strong class no doubt) Thief is one of the best co-op classes hands down!

Care to enlighten a newb as to why that is?
Because this:
Thief skill Sneaky: Your may exhaust this card to perform an open or close a door action without using an action.
