Executing maneuvers and blocking

By Lightrock, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Do cards and effects that trigger "after [a ship] executes a maneuver" work even if the ship in question doesn't move at all?

Let's say that prior to revealing my dial I'm touching another ship. My chosen maneuver will not carry me past the blocking ship, so strictly speaking no maneuver is "executed" and my ship does not physically change it's position on the board. Does that count as executing a maneuver from the rules standpoint though?

For example:

- If I have Kanan Jarrus on board and my chosen maneuver was white, can I trigger Kanan to clear stress?

- I I have the Lightning Reflexes talent, can I use it to turn my ship around? If I do, does my ship still count as touching the other ship?

Yes, a maneuver is still executed, even if you end up not moving. At the top off my head, the only thing that fails is k-turns/sloops/trolls, where you do not get to rotate your ship if you overlap. (and you skip your action step of course)

So greens clear stress, reds gains stress, and abilities like Kanan triggers and so on.

As for Lightning Reflexes, I`d say that, yes, you can turn. Not 100% sure on the latter part, but since you do not move as such, just flips 180 degrees I`d say you are still touching, but others might disagree :)

Edit: This is partially covered in the FAQ:

"Lightning Reflexes A ship equipped with Lightning Reflexes can use it even if the ship overlapped another ship when executing its maneuver. A ship that executes a maneuver that is not on its dial (such as an ionized ship, a ship using Inertial Dampeners, or Juno Eclipse using her pilot ability to execute a maneuver that is not on her dial) cannot use Lightning Reflexes."

Blocking does not affect the execution of maneuvers. In only affects the movement effectiveness of those maneuvers although if you happen to be blocked all the way back to your starting position any "overlaps" that were ongoing will remain so.

Cheers guys. Thanks for the answers!
