What am I missing here?
Why are they fixing the TIE Defender and not the T-65? Isn't the TIE Defender already a solid ship? Even if it's lacking a little, it seems like the T-65 needs fixing more than the Defender does!

It's not a solid ship, it's too expensive and has needed a fix since it came out.
Also, how do you know they're not fixing the X? Most people think Rebel Vets will contain E and X fixes.
Patience, young Jedi. The Rebels will have their turn.
The Defender is NOT a solid ship. Why is that such a predominating opinion on this forum? It is horrendously overcosted.
The T-65, while not good enough for top level play, is not far behind the curve. And they do sneak into the top of tournaments from time to time. I have spent a lot of time on ListJuggler and never seen a Defender making the cut in any tournament of decent size.

First off, who says there isn't an X-Wing fix in the making? Could be coming with Rebel Veterans. We don't know.
Secondly, the TIE Defender is far from a solid ship. Some people, such as Biophysical and myself, have had limited success with it, but even the people who do really well with the ship will readily admit that it's ridiculously overcosted for what it can do. Neither generic has an EPT, and in order to give them enough firepower to make them even remotey worth their points, you have to add on the Heavy Laser Cannon, and suddenly a ship that's over-reliant on green dice is taking up half of your squad. It really, really needed the fix that it's getting.
IA? 8 unique pilots in three releases? New astromechs every year. Yeah they don't care about the T-65.
Because the Defender has been pretty much DOA since it came out, while the T-65 has really only been overshadowed by the T-70 recently. The old X-wing still had its uses, mainly Biggs, but has been outclassed now. The Integrated Astromech was also a minor buff to the X-wing, while the TIE mk II mod helped out the Defender. So really, it makes sense for the Defender to get something sooner than the T-65.
The T-65 has had attempted fixes in the past and I'm certain more are coming, but between those there's still ample reason to fix other ships.
The Defender in fiction was a superior fighter while in game it's overcosted and has a very stiff dial, either which is enough to force it out of most Imperial squads. It deserves this buff, and so does the TIE Bomber for that matter.

Defender is a ship horribly overpriced and completely sucks dial-wise
t-65 is fine for epic and Batwedge is great troll-face T-65
They did fix the T65 - its called the T70.

I am rediscovering the joy of using Janson's ability in my local ordinance heavy meta.
Defender see 0 play except for those that are fans of the ship for their own personal reasons. Mostly because if the EU.
Xwing still see more play.
I've seen Biggs, luke, wedge a hell of a lot more than any defender
Even the generic xwing has more table time vs generic defender
The new defender title makes vessery and the generic a lot better in cost/durability
Xwings have also seen some fixes/upgrades since their initial release with things like r4d6, integrated astromech, and new pilots thar came with the transport
What has the defender have since it's initial release?
Nothing until now
Edited by Krynn007The t-65 has received many "fixes" in the past few months. The poor Defender carries the cost of a high health turret and is neither. It should be the ultimate jouster in the game and soon it will be.
Patience. Rogue one. Soon
I hate to say it, but the T-65 has seen lots of love. Integrated Astromech, Targeting Astromech, BB-8.
Richard Hsu won/made final table in several store championships with Biggs and/or Wedge.
Patience, young Jedi. The Rebels will have their turn.
The thing is X-WINGS are still okay if you are a ****-good Winger.
TIE Deffendes came out bad... FFG just screwed up with the ship from day one. Same for Star Vipers & Seeks.

There is a growing announcement:production capacity gap that makes me think we might see some T-65 love before Halloween.
Alright, alright, alright! I get it!

MAYBE... but right now Chris is in love with his Rebellion-Monopoly-Game.

Now I know this is wrong. Biophysical has won events with a large number of people. I know there were some Store Championships that had Tie Defenders that made the cut. I'm not sure what you consider "decent size".
People also forget that Imperial Vets is part of the ordnance fix that going on. FFG doesn't just fix things with one tweak. They prefer to tweak a few subtle things so it's not overpowered. Hence, the Tie Bomber getting stuff that makes it better that deals with ordnance. So, with that, the Tie Defender is another Imperial ship that could use some tweaking.
The T-65 isn't a bad ship....just not the best at tournament play. It's great in missions and epic.
Not everything gets into list juggler, I suppose.
My main point for these ships has always been that they are expensive, but they have a lot of tools that give you ways to win games if you take the time, and so they shouldn't be just thrown out without trying them (assuming you're interested in the first place).
Even then, I totally believe that right now generics are awful.

So, with x7 and Tie D coming out on one hand, and Tie Shuttle and System officer on the other, do you see a place for HLC Rexler with shuttle support going foreward?
OK. So the set is called IMPERIAL veterans. So obviously the couldn't "fix" the T-65 in that product. But as I remember it was spoiled early by somebody and as such FFG pushed forward their announcement of it. Did anybody ever get any idea how much? Could another product originally have been planned to announce before it?

This is fairly thematic too. Sorry couldn't resist from another post topic. ![]()

There are a very few situations where I like HLC better than Ion Cannon, but most of the time the Ion Cannon is just so much better. I like a Predator/Ion Cannon as equipment for any Defender with an EPT that's not Vessery. The Ion Cannon does work pretty nicely on Rex, though. It strips shields or tokens that would have blocked a damage card anyway, and if you deal a crit naturally, you can potentially flip it back up. It's also worth remembering that you can flip up a damage card caused by an Ion Cannon. You might consider doing this if you hit one ship with the IC, but want to use your primaries to finish off a Y-wing or something. This would probably only happen if desperate or you had a Focus/TL Farm going on a TIE shuttle, but it's an option.
