how exactly does the card coordinated strike work?

By Scrumblydumpus, in WFRP Rules Questions

So my group cant quite figure out how the coordinated strike action works. I understand the single success (one hammer) effect, but not... well... the entire rest of the card. could someone spell it out for me please?

Say you and your ally both have gauntlets equipped (DR: 4 CR: 4) and average stats for humans. With 2 hammers you add your Strength and your ally's gauntlet DR, just like the first success line; but if you have generated 8 boons you can crit twice with the one attack. 4 boons to activate his gauntlet crit and 4 boons to activate yours: 7 damage, and 2 criticals. With 2 more boons, you could add the ally's Strength to that: 10 damage, and 2 criticals.

(red)

With 1 hammer you use your own strength but your ally's weapon DR. Good as long as his weapon DR is the same or better than your own. Especially nice for dagger/staff wielders and allies with great weapons/flails.

Two hammers, as above, but you are allowed to use boons to trigger the CRs of both weapons, allowing you to score 2 criticals with enough boons.

Two boons, an option to *also* gain your ally's Strength to your attack.

(green)

Conversely, you use your own weapon's DR, but an ally's Strength to damage. Good if you've got a good weapon, but less Strength than your ally.

So, Reckless side, say that you're wielding a Daager(DR4/CR3) with S3 and your ally is S5 with a greatssword (DR 7/CR2).

On 1 success, you would do 3 (your S) + 7 (ally's DR) = 10, and could score a critical on 2 boons (greatsword's CR)

(As opposed to a 3 (St) + 4 (your CR) = 7, criticaling only on CR3 of your dagger).

On 2 successes, you would do 3 (your S) + 7 (ally's DR) = 10, and could score a critical on 2 boons (greatsword's CR), and 2 criticals on 5 boons (GS CR of 2, dagger CR of 3)

On any number of successes and 2 boons, you would do 3 (your S) + 7 (ally's DR) + 5 (ally's S) = 15 (assuming you used the 2 boons for the added damage, and not to activate the Greatsword's CR)

So it is less of a front-line fighter action card, and more suited for wizards/priests/thieves/etc who have mediocre or poor Strength and/or weaker weapons

thank you so much! makes quite a bit more sense now!
