5 Green A-Wings

By Chabuda, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Friends, I'm fairly new the the xwing game, but I've always enjoyed flying the awing in the old video games. That being said, when this list has been showing up at differently regional tournaments I felt the need to play it:

5x Green Pilot

AT, Chaardan, adaptability, Crack

I'm curious how one would fly these. Obviously you want to block, but is it wise to run one at PS2 as a dedicated blocker against ps4? How about using crack shot? Is it best to save it to use against aces as opposed to say, a palp shuttle or something similar? I've had a few opportunities to spend the crack but don't in hopes for a different target, only to get blown up without spending it. I understand there are different strategies based on what you're flying against. I'm just curious if people know how to effectively fly them against general lists as opposed to specific situations.

I don't know much about this list, as I do not fly Rebel ships (you know, because they're treacherous scum). I did however ask the creator of this list about how to run it vs. U-Boats, and he said that you don't drop 1 of them to PS2 for blocking, but rather that the point vs. U-Boats is to run all of them at PS4 to try and take one off the table before it fires.

So..there's that tidbit for ya.

This is the thread you want to read through:

Green Arrow List

Much appreciated

I went up against this list at the Chicago hoth tournament. Dash melted so fast... He flew them in a very tight formation, didn't need to block. Just shoot lol

Honestly, it seems to fly extremely similar to the Crack Shot Black Squadron swarm, but you are trading a body for extra hp and autothrusters, and trading barrel roll for boost. Swarm, focus fire, know when to break formation, and spend your crack shot the first time it would push damage through, because you only have two attack dice outside of range 1.

I have been flying the list for a couple weeks now and it is a blast! I stay in formation and go without the bumper ship. For this build, firepower is the king. The toughest thing is trying to take shots with modifications. The K-turns are really convenient and it can be a challenge to take shots with modifications when you are trying to get in that range 1 band. There are also times that I really miss PTL, but overall the list is a lot of fun!
