Hot Take: Ginkapo Shouldn't Be Engaging In Thread Necromancy

I thought I remembered him talking on this one. Yeesh. What an era that was.
I like the title of this thread.
I'm the only one allowed to be a necromancy.
I feel the hate flowing through you.....

Good good....
Its threads like these that make me truly appreciate how the Empire could've collapsed in a year after Endor. ![]()
Okay, I'll point it out explicitly.
The reason @Ginkapo necroed this thread is to highlight the irony in the fact that the flotilla--which seems to be ruining the game for @Reinholt--has single-handedly invigorated the MC80, which he maligns in this thread but has recently used to great effect, as enabled by flotillas.
Kind of a **** move, but I personally cut Gink some slack: he's only British, after all.

Space Pickles are about to get even better.
Commander Organa with Ray Antilles..
8 engineering per turn from one ship alone.
Edit:
but at 38 points my goodness is she expensive.

Pretty sure Leia will not stack with Antilles. You can only get the benefit of spending a token once.

I'd agree on that one too. The Leia token is invisible and the real token remains, so Raymus on a Pelta with Leia will be legit. Squadrons+1 and the token stays around to be used to feed All Fighters Follow Me next turn. Aww yiss.
I know there is a certain degree of irony to the original post and some recent posts. I do think it is probably fair not to engage in thread necromancy more generally.
The forums at their best are a place where we can put forth ideas, have them evaluated in the cross-fire of other players, and then come to a better understanding of the game. Sometimes opinions can be rather sharp on particular issues or legitimate differences of opinion can exist. I know I had barely played the game when I saw this thread, and I followed it closely to get a sense of the arguments and how people were developing their lists. In the end, Reinholt is one of among several people that congratulated me on my winning Dallas regional list that summer. By then, he'd already come around to the idea that the MC80 was pretty good. The simple fact is that people's opinions are also in a constant state of flux. So we can cut them a bit of slack since we're all in this lovely business of furthering our understanding of the game.
I'm sure if someone dug up an old post of mine and asked me if I still thought whatever I happened to have said in the thread, I'd probably have to nuance it a bit if not outright retract it. After all, this game features a lot of "Here's something I think would work at the table, but until it gets tried at the table, I'm not sure exactly how it will play out."

Reinholt is an all around excellent guy who has been an great part of the community for a long time. I first crossed paths with him in this thread actually (as we agreed at the time), and since then I've met him a couple times in person and hes a fun and supportive guy who truly enjoys sharing and discussing ideas, both trivial and important. He's definitely not a stagnant thinker either (nobody should be). Like any good thinker, his opinions evolve with the evidence.
I personally think his analysis of the MC80 a year ago and his analysis of the activation discussion (which people keep misunderstanding as the flotilla argument) arent mutually exclusive and are in no way contradictory or ironic in the presence of each other. I also happened to agree with both at the time they were presented so there's my bias confessed.
As much as some members of these forums would like to pat themselves on the back by Nelsonifying (I love making these words up) Reinholt, he's anything but a trolling doomsayer. He made great arguments and analysis and will be a missed presence, along with many of the other great personalities that have been shooed off by these forums and a general displeasure with the state of the game.

Is there a difference between actually spending a token, and resolving a command "as if" you had also used a token, but did not actually do so?
If the answer is in the affirmative, then I suspect she will stack with Ray, but I could be wrong on this.
I.e. if you had an engieering value of 4, you would get the 2 points "as if" you had spent a token, but because you have not actually spent a token via Organa, the one you claimed via Ray is good to go.

There's really no precedence for being able to spend 2 tokens. There is a notation in the RRG that you can spend a token and dial together to combine their effects as a single resolution of a command, so I suspect if only due to that the limit is one dial and one token. So you may as well spend Leia's phantom token and keep the real thing provided by Raymus.

I suspect you are correct. Thanks for the input.

However, Ackbar80s won 3 regional tournaments. No AF placed top 4. MC80 certainly has a place in the meta, and I'll be surprised if at least 1 MC80 list does not make top 8 at worlds, if not top 4.
My list that won Gautier had an AF2 in it.....

Actually no.
This was a much more dickish a move than that.

I've pinged off an email about this. 90% sure it wont stack, but if it does... hello my new favourite admiral!

It wasn't documented in schmitty's regional data. I checked it last week and no medium ships won a regional tournament nor placed top 4 I believe.

That was Wave 5. I think Gautier was in Wave 3/4.

Spoiling all fun. Classic Ben.
