In this video you can see him climbing on the A-Wing.
Also, when the Duke kneels to chat with BB-8, you can see a blue A-Wing (possibly, hard to tell) in the background
Certainly looked like a blue A-Wing...

What I'm also hoping for is that FFG is given a little more info regarding the film, so as to allow them to create pilot cards that go beyond "Blue Ace" and "Omega Leader". Perhaps we'll actually see pilot cards for some of the pilots we saw in TFA at some point too.
Well until they do Red Ace will be Lt. Bastien and Blue Ace will be " Testor" Pava to me.

Don't be a pedant; we all know what he meant.
A-wings are great and all (I really do love A-wings... Gemmer has won me so many battles), but I want that Prince Harry pilot or crew card now. The guy has serious combat chops already. Someone at FFG needs to get on that, plz.
Update: Bandai supposedly has an upcoming model kit of the new fighter! The rounded cockpit is the only real tell that it isn't the classic RotJ model.
Edit: so far no real evidence this is a new Resistance fighter, sadly, but I'm holding out hope for more info soon
Nope. The description says it's from ROTJ.

Notice how the seat is too high for him (evident in other shots). A shorter person must be the pilot (possibly the one instructing him in the ways of The Force and Advanced Autographing).
He's probably just sitting high in it, as one should in a pilot seat. Slumping into the seat is an actors position, and it has perpetually bugged me in every movie with a pilot in any attack craft. God forbid the pilot might use the canopy for vision...
My only complaint is that we end up with yet another T-70/T-65, TIE FO/TIE pairing: same ship, just a little better stat wise.
In a game as well filled as this one already, how many repeats are we going to end up with because movie makers like cashing in on nostalgia? ![]()
HWK 300, come on Disney!
No one else is curious about the green screen? Space battle maybe?

It tells us nothing.
It might be flying (not necessarily in any of battle, any form of flying involves green screen), but it might just as well stand in the hangar, CGI is so advanced nowadays noone would notice it anyway, just look at TFA.
Edited by eMeMPretty certain they wouldn't be using the full scale models for space battles. It will be the background or wherever the hanger is.
Noone will be using any real models for space battles, it's not 1980 anymore, but it might be used for in-cockpit shots during a space battle ![]()
They don't use the full sized Falcon for cockpit shots, and they won't use the full model for cockpit shots for the fighters.
I have no problem with seeing the old ships. Although the analytical part of my brain says that we should have seen A Wings rather than X Wings in TFA simply by virtue of the later production date of the A. But by the same token considering how fast they were pumping out new ship designs during the OT there is no reason why entirely new fighters shouldnt exist

There is a difference between the Falcon and a tiny fighter, but yeah, you are probably right.
@UP A-wings are present in "Rebels" 5 years before Yavin, so it is possible they are older than X-wings.

It's also possible that X-wings were around during the clone wars or before and were used by non-republic, non CIS forces. Y-wings, remember, are war surplus and over 20 years old in ANH, and the T-65s look at least as beat up as those things.
A ship as small as that is almost certainly going to have an full size shooting model for various things, such as interacted hanger scenes, and cockpit in-flight shots. It'd be we much effort to build a hero cockpit as a hero fighter, in this instance, and doing the latter actually means less build effort overall, as they don't need two hero grade units, and it gives them a foreground piece for flight deck scenes (like the exterior T70 hangers in TFA. Many of those X-wings were physical props).
Bear in mind, the X-wing in-flight shots were done on hero cockpit builds that includes about half of the wing assemblies, engines, and much of the rear end. The prow was pretty much the only significantly missing piece. That same cockpit was used for every shot of someone in each ship coming over the lake.
CG isn't bad, but there's only so much it can do. Abrams knew that in TFA, and resolved to use physical props and effects where possible. BB8 would have been way easier to throw in as an animation, but it looked infinitely more immersive as a physical effect. Conversely, stills of the Falcon fighting off the TIEs on Jaaku look like a still from Battlefront.

Not exactly, TCW Y-wings aren't the same as OT ones, I'd say the difference is way bigger than between T-65 and T-70 ![]()
I liked the old canon backstory of the X-wings, but as for now we don't know what the new canon thinks about it. Apparently Season 3 of Rebels will have some tie-ins to Rogue One, maybe we will see the Yavin cell and learn something about their fighter situations.
(I'd love to see Red Squadron before they got T-65s, flying on Y-wings and/or Z-95s)
Edited by eMeMBTL-B, S3 and A4 are all variant models of the same basic Y-wings. Once you strip away the armor plating the only difference is the cockpit and turret armament. Han Solo in the ANH radio drama even says the ships are 20 years old. Sounds like the rebels got ahold of Y-wings that the empire didn't want or need anymore and converted them to single crew configuration, or the republic/empire had commissioned single seat variants and then dumped them in favor of TIEs.
Thing is, the Clone Wars Y-Wings ARE the same ones seen in ANH. Just heavily modified and refitted.Check the lines on that bad-boy, you can see which bits were split off by The Rebellion.
I would guess the back half is missing to fit in a camera dolly.
We're getting a ROYAL FIGHTER!
