As far as the movies are concerned, I'm totally fine with re-imagining the ships from the original trilogy.
X-wing the Miniatures game wise... Not sure how I feel about having version old and version new of every ship from the original trilogy...

Update: Bandai supposedly has an upcoming model kit of the new fighter! The rounded cockpit is the only real tell that it isn't the classic RotJ model.
Edit: so far no real evidence this is a new Resistance fighter, sadly, but I'm holding out hope for more info soon

Might not be an Episode VIII spoiler, then, after all.
The article notes that the studio they are at, here, filming Episode VIII was also used for Rogue One. So...A-Wing could be leftover prop from Rogue One filming?
(Dunno, I do suspect it's an Episode 8 ship, but just pointing out that there is possibly another explanation. Of course, on the other hand - we know the A-Wing kinda descended from the Jedi Starfighter, after all, and Ahsoka was running around in an A-Wing during 'Rebels', so...who knows, maybe it really is the ship Luke escaped in. Explains why he didn't have R2-D2 with him, then...)
Edited by xanderfI must say that I love the new A+ wing. Look forward to seeing the new B+ wing, as the resistance transport was cobbled together from parts of one, we have seen the cockpit - maybe. Things might change.

So if this ship gets a model for our game, it would be about the size of the Y-wing cockpit right? I always felt our current A-wing was way to big!
