A while ago I did a large post on Effective Arc. The gist was that repositioning higher pilot skill ships effectively shrink the firing arcs of ships that are attacking them.
This is a humble X-wing. It wants to fire at Soontir Fel, because Soontir Fel works for the Empire and the X-wing pilot doesn't like the Empire much.

Each box on this grid is a 1-template by a 1 template, or one small base.

This is Soontir Fel. Thanks to PTL Boost and Barrel Roll for this X-wing Soontir is effectively in all these places at once. If just one of these is outside the X-wing's firing arc Soontir will arc-dodge into it and the X-wing will be without a shot. I call this area the Soontir Potential.
Say our X-wing catches Soontir right in Range 1. For most jousting ships this'd be a perfect maneuver, with Soontir caught in a lethal showdown. Not for Soontir though.

To catch Soontir requires you to be able to visualise every place he could be, predict his maneuver correctly and position yourself such that every part of the Soontir Potential is inside your arc.
Or I could do that for you. If a PTL TIE interceptor of the same bearing is fully within the green area it won't be able to escape your arc.
