Break This

By Firespray-32, in X-Wing

I just thought of a single Illicit Upgrade with massive applications for the Scum faction.

Contraband Ordnance

Illicit

1pt

Equip one [T] upgrade to this ship (paying its squad point cost as normal).

Contraband Ordnance

Illicit

1pt

Add one Torpedo Slot to your upgrade bar.

This would allow you to put Extra Munitions on every illicit carrying Scum ship at the cost of your illicit slot and one point.

This'd allow (off the top of my head)

  • Double missile Z-95s (including double cluster N'dru)
  • Double missile Kihraxzes with Guidance Chip crit goodness
  • Double missile on non-Slave 1 Firesprays
  • Double torpedo on Slave 1 Firesprays
  • Double APT Guri
  • Six bomb Andrastra (a feat previously only achieved by the Sabine K-wing)
  • Double missile Hound's Tooth
  • Proton Torpedo on cheap Boba carriers like the HWK and G-1A
  • A second useable ordnance slot on the Jumpmaster (bear in mind triple Jumpmasters already runs to 100 points so to put another two shots in the tank would require dropping a Jumpmaster)

Can anyone think of anything this would break utterly?

Emon would wreck the ever living life out of anything with less then 4 health.

I don't think it would be that broken. Strong, but seriously dependant on good positioning and manouvering.

You can already do this with bonus damage by putting Sabine on an Advanced SLAM K-wing.

As far as i can tell anyway.

This seems kind of neat. I'll have to try this out.

A K-Wing can only dream of what Emon can do with mines.

LRS for all missile carriers.

Double-missile PS3 Z swarm might be a bit much. I've played against various rebel and scum z swarms quite a bit and the thing that keeps them in balance is that aces can basically ignore the Z's that already fired.

Without that limitation Thwy would be monstrous. But for 3 more points you can't squeeze 6 in a list.

Might be okay.

Really if you're messing with illicit slot and ordnance I'd like to see a dual upgrade that lets me pick between ordnance or some illicit-like effect.

LRS for all missile carriers.

You could fit 5 Pirates with Homing, this illicit, scanners, and Extra Munitions. Not sure if that would be broken though. Chances are you'll lose one before it fires.

I take it you haven't seen emon sling shot a proximity mine into an ace before. It isn't hard, and quite frankly in a set up like this, would be more then worth the 12 points to out fit him with 6 proximity mines.

Why don't people do it with with three then? That's more than enough to make a living Fel into a dead Fel.

The idea would be illegal expansions to the ordnance racks. If you wanted a different effect you'd install a different upgrade.

I think Dagonet found it. Not sure how to elegantly sidestep that one.

LRS doesn't require ordnance.

He already does. :P

And then he's expensive like a fully loaded Deathrain. Dish them out quick or lose them when he drops.

I like the idea. I wish Scyks had illicit slots.

Might not be totally broken, but if you are doing it on a Jumpmaster, and use Dengar as your pilot, you could in theory fire 2 torpedoes per round, for 2 rounds.

Got it!

Equip one [T] upgrade to this ship (paying its squad point cost as normal).

Takes precedent from Mist Hunter, does not add the slot to the upgrade bar and therefore doesn't meet the equip conditions for LRs.

ROUND TWO

razzenfrazzen r4 agromech grrrr

Creates an interesting corner case actually. If you're forced to equip an upgrade card by Mist Hunter wording and you don't lack the slot, does it fill the slot?

It's not broken on Dengar in the first place, because the second torpedo of the round will be an unmodified attack (unless there's a crew being used to give him something).

Stressed for the rest of the game, but over clock Astro with deadeye allows modified shots for every torp he would fire.

Hmm. I like it. A bolted-on addition that sounds very Scummy.
