What kind of gaming aids would You like to see in future supplements?

By Sunatet, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Going through my freshly acquired box, and reading the forums I came to conclusion, that it may be a good idea to point FFG on some of possible directions they could take in the future supplements.

I don't want to point here what races/professions/spells and alike I would like to see. I want to concentrate of gaming aids, that could be handy.

So for me:

1. Monster cards - profession like, so I can put many different monsters in front of me without the need to shuffle through the book

2. Monster action cards - as above, it would be handy, and since players have their cards, I don't see a reason I couldn't have some for monsters too.

3. Maneuvers on cards. Same as above.

4. Some kind of tracking tool other than tokens for cards/wounds/stress/fatigue/power. It may be some kind of tracker with numbers (I made some prototypes on my own, You can check them in houserules section, so You know what I'm talking about).

5. Maybe some new bigger character sheets, because to say the truth I don't like those in the box at all. I know they were designed to save space, but.. I would rather see some bigger that have more space on them.

Your thoughts?

I'd like to see some sort of hybrid storage solution for all the cards/dice/tokens etc where the lid folds up into a DM screen .

The ability to purchase more of the standee bases, so that we can print off our own monsters. Perhaps something with a second slot in it so we can put numbered tracking tokens into it so that we could track multiple monsters without getting mixed up. (maybe even just do this with rings with numbers on them in the same vein you have the stance rings)

These are just off the top of my head. I'll give this some thought and post later.

They wont fit the thick ones, but they will fit ones you print.

More info here

Funnily enough while doing some google-fu of that Steve Jackson stuff, I found it was out of print. I then found a neat article on BGG that has a decent solution you probably already have in your own home.

BindersClipN00005.jpg

Seems a good way to go about it is to print stuff out, stick it in one of those clips and then remove the handles for a quick and easy standee cool.gif

Now why didn't I think of that. So simple, easy...and cheap!

Ha!

Another alternative for stands for printed-out monsters (if you're lazy like me, or just don't happen to have binder clips handy, or just want a more cohesive look) would be Litko's counter stand sets. They come in a few different sizes (ranging from 3/4" to 4" square).

You can find them here (scroll down the page a bitthey're an older release).

I want some blue puzzle-fit stance pieces. Not sure why, I just want some blue ones.

This place does great standee bases (and I've used them for other gaming bits work, custom and otherwise):

Look about 2/3 of the way down the page! Several sizes as well...

Well, I've made my own puzzle-fit stance pieces because for some of the things I wanted, I found I didn't have enough. You could make blue ones this way.

You'll need 2 things.

Black foamboard (which can be found at any art supply or office supplies store)

and some round colour coding labels. Avery make them in rolls in many colours (and in multi colour packs like below). You can get them at your local office supply store.

Just trace around the edge of the puzzlefit pieces onto the foamboard, cut out and stick on whatever colour you want - easy.

Using foamboard, you can also make custom neutral pieces - say you want a multi directional piece that splits 5 ways - you can do it with this.

Money tokens.

or rather tokens for the different coins in warhammer, Brass, silver and gold. I am allready planning to use gold tokens for my next wfrp campaign. That togheter with the wounds cards, means there will essentially be no bookeeping. That and using som neat small purses to contain them, it will be kewl.

give me my cold piece tokensgran_risa.gif

I add Card Packs to my list.

You know a pack with 1 copy of every card from core set, a pack with 1 copy of every card from Adventurer's Toolkit, and so on.

In case some of the cards were damaged/ lost/ eaten by dog, or I just simply want to add another player, or use for some special monster I made.

Sharing is ok for a while, so is printing Your own cards, but I'm all into high quality goods that I can replenish at any time.

As far as monster tokens go, I mean, we can use anything. I have a slight collection of various miniatures and they work as far as I am concerned.

Whats wrong with using beads or even pennies to mark re-charge tokens and similiar, like we would in Magic?

Specifically, the game aid I would like to see would be all the various charts and tables that are spread throughout the rule book, centralized on a few pages. Its really the whole core of the game.

double post, dang it!
