I am wondering if the Rogue Squadron Raid card can be used against the Death Star Under Construction in the build queue. The Death Star under construction has 4 hp while the Death Star (which is the actual unit in the queue) has no hp. There seems to be good arguments on both sides to this question. I lean towards not, but am wondering if that is correct on my part. Thanks.
Death Star Under Construction and Rogue Raid Mission
The card says "destroy up to 4-health worth of units of your choice on the build queue." As the DSUC is never on the build queue, and the DS on the build queue does not have a health value, this doesn't work.
That is what I was thinking. Thanks so much :-)
we ran into this issue and couldn't come to a solid conclusion.
Because its not technically a complete death star in the queue. Its a death star under construction.. there just isnt a second 'construction' model in the game box to mark it.
The question that needs to be answered is.. is the death star under construction considered to be in the queue at all. Yes its placed on the board for aesthetic and 'cool lore' reasons. but theres also a marker in the queue. So what represents what exactly.
Edited by PinkTacoI see the DSUC as a placeholder that represents a vulnerability that must be protected while the DS is in the build queue. I also see the logic, specifically pertaining to a mission like Rogue Squadron Raid, since that mission implies a quick hit and run that would only work on a smaller target (like a Star Destroyer shipyard or drydock) instead of a massive battlestation. However while the DS is still under construction the Rebels can attempt to knock it out if it is poorly defended. However depending on the game situation the Rebel player may want to wait anyway since there are no objective points to be gained for taking out a DSUC.

Theres also the rule that specifies if any rebel ship is in the same system as the DSUC without any imperial ships, then its destroyed. So you can literally walk over a rebel transport to the system with the DSUC and blow it up. Its not operational in any way (like the movies) its literally just a big rock with 4HP.
Edited by PinkTacoso was there ever an official ruling. I didn't see it in the most recent FAQ/errata. we ran into this last night and stopped the game for nearly 30 minutes. I relented and lost the DSUC but argued that:
A unit can't both be in play and in the build queue
The two units are mutually exclusive as indicated on the imperial player board
FFG often require a literal translation on cards for the rules to be most effective. The sheer volume of cards, effects, and combinations of such don't really allow for inference otherwise a case/else argument can erupt on a turn by turn basis (no offense to FFG here, the fact games like this work at all are the product of significant QA).
Rogue Squadron Raid thematically speaks to me of a more smaller raid on a stockyard, factory, etc (realize i'm guilty of inference here myself but)....
There's already another way to destroy the DSUC; simply occupy the space of the system with no imperial units.
If there are multiple ways to destroy the DSUC, it's not really worth my actions to even attempt.
"No. Rogue Squadron Raid cannot be used to destroy a Death Star on the Build Queue. The Death Star does not have a health value and can therefore not be targeted by this card."

No, there is a similar rule (retreat or die) regarding Rebel transports, but due to its timing, it triggers sooner than DSUC's one - so in a "Rebel transport vs. DSUC" situation, DSUC wins.
Just look at it this way- the DS Under Construction is on the board. The DS is on the queue, and will enter play like any other unit on the queue (except in this case, it actually replaces a unit on the board- the DS Under Construction).
Since, as mentioned, the DS has no health value, it cannot be taken down. Sorry to burst any Rebel bubbles.
