=THE GALACTIC CIVIL WAR= Massive Armada Tournament

By MattShadowlord, in Star Wars: Armada

Admiral Score:

Screed (57 points, 1188)

Motti ( 52, 1100 mov)

Tarkin (45, 423 mov)

Ozzel (32, 138 mov)

Vader ( 22 points, 421 mov)

Correlation does not necessarily equal causation.

What I noticed when the imp lists were released is that it appeared very much like Screed got the pick of the uniques whilst the others had scraps.

Whereas Rebels tended towards giving Garm the pick of the uniques as the weakest admiral, whilst Rieekan had to make do with leftovers.

Additionally, the poor Rieekan performance was largely influenced by the matchups than an inherent flaw in the admiral.

isn't that the point? The limited upgrades saw reduced effectiveness in the fleets that didn't have the option to take them

I have no problem with the concept the idea that being without Demo was a hinderance for 4 players per team. My problem was with the below quote and the subsequent 'analysis' which followed.

I also think the restriction of the admirals hurt us more as it further gutted several strategy's when you couldn't have Screed For the auto crits or motti for the extra tankiness. Vader and Tarkin are just to expensive.

Rebels have Better generic stuff (mostly TRCs and A-wings/b-wings) so it was possible for multiple players to run similar lists without much loss of effectiveness in them.

Demolisher doesnt need Screed to be highly effective, just as Screed doesnt need demolisher to be highly effective. So why did every imperial team put two potent weapons together, limiting themselves even further?

I think what this tourney showed is that rebels have been so forced to be very creative with list building since Rhymer/Dengar and APTs/ACMs came out wave II that they adapted better to the problem.

I think the unique restrictions this tournament was run under makes it difficult to learn much from the results.

Edit: Or at least much we didn't already know.

In more general feedback, a week was very short for a team of 5 to organise their lists together in their spare time across various timezones.

True; it's wasn't any sort of scientific test, nor intended to be one. There were too many variables other than Admirals changed at once, and too small a player and game sample. The results are interesting - even if seeing Screed top imperial performance followed by Motti, and Mothma top Rebels followed by Ackbar was unsurprising :D

The only thing I found with certainty is that team events are a lot of fun, and that a series of purely Rebel vs Imperial games are a terrific change of pace and very thematic.

Very Star Wars :D
