Fragile Alliegances v2 (custom mode)

By Rogue Dakotan, in X-Wing

EDIT goddamnit typo in the title of this thread. :(

Ahoy. I've recently decided to write out the rules to my custom game mode, Fragile Allegiances again. We've tested this before and it's pretty fun. Thought i'd put this out there for you guys to try and hear what you think.

Do yourself a favor: In whatever program you used to make this poster, drag a box behind the text that is either slightly lighter or darker than the image, set the transparency to something like 50%, and darken or lighten the text to stand out. It will get rid of all the contrast issues that cause your text to disappear against the gray parts of the image.

Sounds like a fun game to play over beer and pretzels!

I'm already slapping myself for not doing that. I'll update it. Thanks

I updated the original image so it's more readable. :D

Awesome man! It would always be nice to force an enemy to become my team... Muwahaha!

Darth Vader is REALLY good at this mode, what with the 2 actions and all. Also, it's a lot of fun to have someone roll right up in your grill and target lock you. You take your maneuver and switch teams. Bam, you get to stab a back and prevent your death in one smooth move...

Obviously you could adjust the restrictions on points as you please. 33 seemed right to me

Yeah.... There aren't really any good Rebel single ships that cost less than 33 points, ESPECIALLY with a unique-required rule. And yes, i'm aware this applies to upgrade cards. I'm just saying, very few actually good ships can pull this off. Hell, drop autothrusters off the common Soontir build and that's 33 points right there. Poe can't do that, neither can any Rebel large based ships. Unique E-Wing pilots are automatically out of play. TIE Defenders are basically out too.

Actually, most of the time generics just can't be used at all, because lots of ships don't have upgrade slots with unique upgrades, unless you're going to throw EI just to fulfill that clause which is likely a waste of 3 points.

Imperials have a pretty distinct advantage at the 33 point limit due to a swath of really good ships and pilots at a low price point. Rebel pilots with good abilities at good PS cost too much to be upgraded lest they meet the 33 point limit.

The points limit is basically the only glaring flaw here. The rest seems really fun.

Well the unique restriction is optional, and of course you can adjust the point restriction as you see fit. It seemed to work good for us when we tried it a while back.

Someone even flew a hwk, as ships with good ally abilities make you someone everyone is clamoring to have on their side lol

33 point Slave One Bounty Hunter sounds pretty good in a back stabbing free for all.

Sounds like you tested it already, how much of an advantage had the ships which had regenerating abilities?

We only got in two matches of it, and I don't think any ship was using a regen ability. Though I imagine that ship would probably be singled out as a target if someone was flying something like that.

In addition to self preservation, you need to fly something that might encourage others to want to keep you around as well.
