Alpha Strike Sulak and 'The Lone Wolf Pack'

By Troxygen, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Does this work how I think it does?

N'ndru Sulak 17

Lone Wolf 2

Clstr Missls 4

GlitterStim 2

So being that neither Sulak's Ability nor Lone Wolf specifies that they are activated soley off of Primary weapon attacks, would you be able to roll an additional die for each cluster missles attack?

So the Sulak Alpha Strike would be two four dice attacks, both modified with a lone wolf reroll and glitterstim.

Statististically this attack will grant you 6-8 hits on the first round of combat, which to me sounds pretty sweet.

To me this seems like an exceptional counter, if not an addition, to U-boats.

So here is what I call 'The Lone Wolf Pack'

N'ndru Sulak 17

Lone Wolf 2

Clstr Mssls 4

GlitterStim 2

Guidance Chps 0

Contracted Scout 25 (x2)

Recon Spec 3

Proton Torpedoes 4

Extra Munitions 2

Guidance Chips 0

Deadeye 1

Unhngd Astrmch 1

Right now it's totalled at 97 which is a decent bid for initiative; I also think that, rather than Chips, you can throw a stealth device or hull upgrade on sulak being that he already has like a 94% chance of landing 8 hits without it.

Yep, that N'dru build works exactly as intended - Cluster Missiles is apparently a pretty common upgrade for him. Swapping out the ususal R4 agromech (or overclocked agromech) for Recon Specialist and Unhinged is an interesting idea. If you're going with that build, I'd use Plasma Torpedoes (or even Ion Torpedoes, you have the points for it) rather than Proton Torpedoes - since you have an extra focus instead of the target lock, the Proton's ability isn't as good.

Yep. That N'Dru build is very effective. He still dies pretty quickly as he's all on his own but rarely before he launches that horrific alpha strike. Seen that very build used in a tournament today.

That Ndru's going to fire eight dice at something with very high modification. Once he's fired you've got a Lone Wolf N'dru which is a capable 19pt combatant.#

If he goes up against a VCX or a Decimator he's probably going to rip half its health off in one shot.

A friend flew essentially this list at the Hoth Open. Only difference was that he was using plasma torps, and R4 aggromech on both scouts and N'Dru had hull upgrade. Recon spec allows for full attack modification as well as either a spare focus for defense or a target lock for the next turn.
